and i couldnt imagine taking, and maintaing 200-225 appointments...
think of what i do with the time i save! instead of being on the phone or writing on a calendar i talk to my clients the ones who are waiting 5 - 15 minutes because of the no appointment policy i am talking to them about lotions and whats new i am making sales i might not have made i dont seem pushy because i am trying to "rush" them with info before cramming them in a bed i am making friends (i.e. loyal clients) in busy season i explain to newbies that yes there can be up to a half hour wait but thats why were open almost 13 hrs daily so they can tan at "their convenience" we make tanning relaxing i dont want my client rushing through town at break neck speeds because there dog puked on their shoe on their way out the door to tan at my salon and now they are late !!!gasp!!! to tan!! I will not be the "tanning police" (think Seinfeld soup guy ) "NO TAN FOR YOU" .... people dont just pay for color they pay for the "me" time and i want it to be relaxing from start to finish does it cost me free upgrades ... yes ... but that too just leads to upsells... everyone thought i was crazee too am still only one in area that doesnt take appointments but when i tell people the benefits "theres more in life to worry about than getting to a tanning appointment" most realize that my salon is different that we are not about getting them in and out with less money in their wallets we are about them and their ultimate tanning experience |

BOTH! I take appts and walk-ins. My policy is the appt goes in first and then I fill in with walk-ins. I haven't had any complaints, they know the routine. I will give someone 5 min to be late as there is always another bed opening. If they aren't here, sorry, you'll be the one waiting. I have a lot of my clients on the call-in basis. They will call from the cells on their way in and that will guarantee them a bed at that time. I have very few no-shows. I would want at least 2 more beds before going to a walk-in only salon.
