I am running the Helios software but currently do not have my employees clock in and out using the system. I just have them write their hours down on paper.
How do the rest of you handle your employees time-sheets?
What are your resons for doing it one way or the other?

The timeclock in Helios, imho, should only be used to track who is selling what and to try and asure that they are in and out when they are supposed to be, I don't use it for payroll. I use a form I created in MS Works for actual payroll.

time clock used in helios with fingerprint to verify they actually did punch in, not friends and favors. eliminates just one more sheet of paper/program to use. clocking in/out also verifies who's at the salon computer.

Only problem with using it for payroll is that you would have to sit down and subtract the minutes that the employee may have clock-in before the actual start of the shift or add on if they clocked out of the system ealier, but actually worked until the designated time.

We use the clock in/clock out for payroll purposes. They cannot clock in earlier than 10 minutes prior to their shift and we allow a reasonable amount of time for them to run their shift report and count the drawer. We pay actual time worked not scheduled shift. If they don't clock in, they will not get paid! They are very good about it.

Here again this is a simple thing that I cant believe you people have a problem with. I use helios for clocking in and out with no problem. My crew shows up 10 - 15 minutes before shift starts. They would rather be early than call me to be late. Are you telling me you people have a problem with people lying on the time cards. I find that totally insane. Keep looking you will find people you can trust.

Neon if you need someone to help you add and subtract PM me and I will explain it to you. Be sure not to wear shoes I am sure you will need you toes.

Counting isn't my problem 2fiddy, although you seem to have dealt with it quite well since I see you have the fingers and toes method working well for you.

Use the time clock as a tool to assure that they were there for their shift, but not for the actual time paid is what I'm saying. I don't have hundreds of employees like you at the mega salon you manage so I know who is there and who isn't.

We also use the time clock in helios as well as a written time sheet. It can go for months without a problem, but usually during busy season the computer will be tied up and someone will not clock in when they arrive and then forget to do it later or will leave and not clock out - I use the written sheets to compare. They might get it wrong on one but not usually on both.
