I have a girl who....she calls another one of my employee's...that employee is an assistant manager. Because of THIS fact, she feels that she can sit on the phone. I have had two complaints that she is finishing her conversation and letting my customers stand there while she finishes! Should I talk to her or just write her up. She knows that the phone is for business/emergency calls only...yet she will do it right in front of me...AND I AM THE MANAGER!!

They should know the difference between when a good time and a bad time is to be on the phone. I agree with tan though. It probably depends on the person you have working for you. I think my crew knows the difference. I think I may be in the minorty though. Two of my girls have been with me for 5 - 6 years. The other two for 2 years. If nothing else they know not to call long distance. 147 minutes - she should be gone.

She made a long distance call...that is not allowed. They can use the phone, but they better not be on it in front of a client. I dont even answer the phone when working with a client.

i would tape a little note on the phone that says "not for personal use"...then go with your gut!!i also have a rules hand book and one of them is no text messaging and stay off of your own phone and mine unless it is an emergency.

we have a policy of no personal phone calss and no cell phone calls until after their shift is over.
I originally trusted them to use common sense when making phone calls but some took advantage. Without a written policy it made it hard to reprimand one for talking for ten minutes while another was OK when talking for 6 minutes. Had 1 employee talking on the phone all day long....had to put an end to the whole situation _________________ [ This Message was edited by: bjhcpa on 2004-10-25 11:08 ] |

GIRL 7 - in reply - I am a store manager as well. One thing you will need to understand is that when you are a young manger, which we both are, somtimes these girls dont take us seriously. You have to put your foot down. WRITE HER UP. We give the girls written warnings. After 3 they are FIRED. On top of the write up, you need to speak with your assistant manager, he/she is suppossed to be helping YOU. She is also breaking the rules, and it would make me question whether SHE takes the rules seriously if she can't enforce them herself.
The owner of my store and I are VERY good when it comes to communications. The phone bill has been out of hand a few times. If it happens again they know it will come out of their check and they will be written up. then if the problem persists, they will be let go. Also about the customer complaints of her being on the phone. That is a BIG no no. I dont even want the girls on the phone AT ALL when a customer walks up to the door. It looks bad, and i dont know about anyone else, but there is this one gas station that i go to before work, and it never FAILS EVERY TIME i go in there this ignorant girl is on the phone and it is always about " GIRRRRL did you hear what this one said to that one about this ones baby's momma's sisters frien?" She is so caught up in her own convo that she NEVER says HELLO, or THANK you or GOODBYE. Even a SCREW you would make it better. This business is all about customer service. If a girl feels that she wants to sit on the phone, then send her home and let her talk on the phone all DAY. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: GreekPrincess on 2004-10-31 20:58 ] |
