I'm going on vacation for a week and i was thinking of closing on saturday and sunday to save a lot of money on payroll while i'm gone. we have been averaging less than 10 tens a day on the weekends and we usually don't make much money either. Keeping in mind it is the slow season, do you think that's a bad idea? I was going to put signs up 2 weeks in advance so everybody would know, and it wouldn't be a shock. Also, my customers know it's only me here most of the time so i think they will understand me being closed 2 days a year. what do you guys think???

i thought about that but my girls are already working so much for me, i though we could all kinda take a little break to gear up for the busy time, i'll really be depending on them alot then, as well as while i'm gone. Plus i just ordered my 10 tans for 20 bucks banner for the road (i'm going to have them put it out on monday november 1st) so we might be kinda busy when they open back up on monday, the break might be good for them. ya think??

I couldn't bring myself to close at all. I would lay awake at night during my vacation wondering how many customers drove to my salon and realized it wasn't open then drove to another, and probably bought a package! I wouldn't want to risk losing a customer at all. You'll probably lose money anyway being that you are paying payroll for the shifts the entire time you are gone...I would suck it up and say to myself..thats what has to be done in order to get a vaca. just my opinion.

Closing anytime will devistate your business worse than anything you can do.
We close 2 days a year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I would never go on vacation if it meant my business not being open. Even if you stay in the red paying help, it is better than getting a reputation of not being open consistently. |
