Like yesterday, I had 5 people in, the first one came in at 4:45, the last at 6:00 and made a whoping $1.25 (someone bought a drink) - I open at 3;00 now, to determine this change I looked at my appt. book and for a three week period I had very few people that came in before noon and the few that came in from noon to 3:00, I checked with them and they said it would be no problem to come in after work rather than durning lunch. I had to make the change in order to survive the next couple of months. I really did not want to do this, hopefully next year I will not have to, but rather than close my doors for good, I had to alter my hours. If this change ruins my business reputation, well, I guess I was destined to fail.

This is crazy. There is a salon here called Sunkissed tans and it did the same thing you did. Opened at 3 and closed at like 8. RUINED THEIR BUSINESS!!! No one took them seriously as a salon. Everyone complained about their hours. Well, a year later they have sold, and the new owner is desperatly trying to turn everything around with little success.

i guess you have to do what you have do..and i wish you all the luck in the world we all need it this time of year.i just think that clients might get alittle nervous to buy packages or gift certificates because your hours are being shortened..in my opionion. And this may have hurt you.

I dont claim to be the tanning guru, but I know this, if you think small, you stay small, at best.
Think big and get big, if you have to do it yourself, my first 4 years of business I worked minimum 78 hrs per week, was it worth it, absolutely. How many potential new clients come to your salon when you are closed? You will never know if it is not open. |

I am unable to work my salon full time, I have a ful time job and the salon too. I work the salon in the evenings (when my son doesn't have a ball game), and on the week ends. I would love to be a full time owner/worker but it just doesn't pay the bills, insurance and etc. I do have big dreams but. . . .
