I have been a little bitter reading the threads on this site with everyone sounding like doom and gloom so lets move on....

So what has worked for anyone? I can tell you our limited success....teeth whitening not great not bad but not great....
We have has a great success of making up our own packages or lotion kits..

Fake n Bake bronzy babe has been great. Lip Plumper is a major success! Promoting in your rooms is key ...your walls.... while they take their clothes off is a huge marketing opportunity. Sell Sell

D.White, I see your an experienced tantalker, but according to your joinging date your relatively new to this business. Not everyone is doom and gloom, alot are very positive about this business. Sometimes newcomers to this business have that innocent optimism, that sometimes can annoy those that have been through several slow seasons. This can be a tough business that is one of the most seasonal I have been associated with,(and I have been associated with some seasonal businesses, such as home heating, etc.). There is good money to be made, and if you continue to think of associated products and services ,you will have a much better chance of making it. We have a smoothie machine that has made us good add. income. We also added a small dayspa with massages and body wraps. They don't tend to be as seasonal as tanning. Good luck to you.

IMHO, a merging of wellness, day spa, fitness, and tanning industries is inevitable - just a matter of degree in your area. I don't know about you, but I'd look in the day spa/wellness area first because it's a less crowded field at present and !tip! since we are in those industries, too we can report that success is there for you - we are speaking from experience.

I can't say any more than that, though.

Speaking of Smoothie Machines Tuesday Morning has the Smoothie Plus or Pro (56-ounce container) on sale October 5th for $29.99. I looked these up and the price's out there run $59.99 to $79.99. Just in case someone needed one, like me. www.tuesdaymorning.com

Take care
Tricia
I do not work for them, just thought I would share.

One thing to remember is that when you add somthing it may or may not work. Well at my newest store I decked it out with swimwear, body jewlry and gift items same as the other stores. Didnt work. I'm pulling it all out next week and putting in nock-off purses and scarfs.

And remember, Secondary items only work in time. Its different then selling tanning. Sometimes it will take up to a couple of years to sell certain items.

I'm in the same boat with Gurkee's Sandals, they are great, but buy the time I buy them and put a retail price on them (lower than MSRP), they become a bit pricey despite the quality. Makes me very hesitant to try new things that end up hanging on the wall for months on end. The same goes for a lot of clothing. California Clothing looks great, but what I have to pay for it to get it into stock is what the end-user would expect to pay for it.
