So, by fingerprinting those clients, is there also something that states when they are fingerprinted that they also have not tanned in the last 24 hours or are using any different cosmetics or medications? While it may be true that alot of Illinois salons do not have sign-in sheets, and that those same salons have never been fined for it, that is just a case of the county involved not being familiar with the state law. Anyone who is not sure can pick up the regulations book and will see that it does require you to have a sign-in sheet. I also have the forms they fill out on their initial visit, and they sign a new one each year, but that still does not help me to know if they are using any medications that may increase sensitivity to UV. I would rather go by the books and deal with a little more paperwork than have to worry if the next time my inspector comes in she might be a little more informed of the regulations and write me up for not operating by them.

That's why helios is still number one. It's owner friendly. Great tech support that is if you get the right tech when needed.

Are you advertising? If you get the right tech? I take that back, that is not advertising.....

At least with Tan Track, you are guaranteed to get the right tech. As for who is the best, lets just say that every program has its benefits and advantages.

Helios is in the process of hiring new techs so sure some techs have more knowledge then others. I will take helios over tan track anyday. As far as the finger verification it's not a finger print. It's a thermal image of your finger. Second off yes the time and day of that person will appear on the screen. When this first came out I spoke personally with the head of the health department and she said this will be fine. When a new client walks in they must fill out a skin type and a release form. Also list any medications they are using. The purpose of a sign in sheet is to track who came in that day right. The finger verification system doest this for you.

From your statement, I can presume you've tried Tan Track? When was this? I tried the Helios demo and found that it did not do everything I wanted. Such as track the solution in my sunless booth container. That is not to say it is not a good program. I just was happier with Tan Track.

To answer your question I have not used Tan Track in my own salon. I have friends who have used it in their salons and I have gone their and worked on it. They have since switched to helios. I have hired girls that have used Tan Track and now use Helios and think it is much easier. I'm not concerned about software tracking my tanning sloution in the mystic or celeberity booth. You open door lift the jug. Are you doing so many spray tans a day that you have to put a new jug in every hour? Do you have a line out the door waiting for spray tans? I'm not trying to be sarcastic but here is my point. Would you rather have something that can more efficiently track your employees, sales, clients, EFT data. That is easier to for new girls that you training to understand. I still believe that Helios is the leader in salon software. They have come with many add on's barcode scanners finger verification, credit card and check readers. They now can process your EFT's. The last thing I'm worried about is tracking the solution in my booth's sunless container. You have an idea how often it needs to be filled or a new one put in. And most major mega salons in the U.S. this does not happen every hour. Some people go through sloution once a day, two days, or even a week.

How long do you store all the paperwork? I know for IRS purposes business sake 7 years but what about all the releases every year and the sign sheets everyday? My state isn't regulated yet and we use SalonTouch and wait list the clients the miute they walk in the door. They sign the inital release and I questioned about the medications. I was told by Insurtec because the HEPA Law we cannot inquire what medications they are on, just that we are to explain to them about the possiblity of reactions. It is client confidentiality. I really don't agree with that.

The question I was asking is does the finger scanner prove that they have not tanned in the past 24 hours and does it show anywhere in writing that they also have not used any new medication? The sign in sheet serves many purposes. Yes it does show in writing who came in, but so does my helios. It also has their signature verifying that they were here and they also answer yes or no to the medication question. I am fine with using these because I don't want someone coming back on me saying they burned and then it would be my fault for letting them tan not knowing they were taking a medication that they were not allowed to tan while using. Now, if they answered no to the question and tanned anyway, they can't come back on me because THEY were the one who signed the sheet saying their medications have not changed. I think as far as the state of Illinois goes, there are double standards, and it just depends on who inspects you. Don't take this personal, it is just my opinion.
