It's evident that not everyone has to do this. Just like in my town, there are hands full of beauty shops with 1 or 2 tanning beds, or gyms that have them and you wouldn't believe how many people come to tan here and think they have to clean their own beds and also want to know where the DIAL is that they turn to set their time. One gym here in town has a couple of beds (must be home versions) that you can turn the dial to set your own time, and I've talked to people who actually don't think the got anything so they'll turn it on again before they get out. And we wonder why the tanning industry is getting such a bad name? I've even mentioned this place that is allowing clients to do this to our inspector. Evidentally nothing was done, because they still have the same beds. HELLOOOO, Springfield you should make sure your inspectors you hire out know what they are doing before you send them out to inspect...GEEEZ! Then if you call Springfield, if you are lucky enough to get through to them, they will only do something is it is endangering the client. WHATEVER! Makes you wonder if they even care how we operate. I guess as long as they get their $150.00 renewal fee each year thats all that matters.

You have to admit though, it's alot of paperwork when you have all the units full, people are waiting, beds need cleaning, the phone is ringing, sales are being made, and you have to make sure a slew of paperwork is completed each and everytime just to get everyone on the up & up. Really glad we don't have to do it.

Thank you Tigers - I have an inspector that knows his stuff - although he is super old so I thought maybe he could be confused.

As for Greek Princess how about getting out of my *** while you are talking out of yours?!?! I don't mind being corrected when I am wrong - How about making sure that YOU are right? And a little FYI - it doesn't matter if your computer cleans the beds for you and wipes your *** when you take a poopoo - you still need a sign in sheet.

Cantanner, now that we got the ignorance out of the way, I was at my salon in ILLINOIS when we OPENED and i was there for the INSPECTION, nothing was ever said about a sign in sheet. IN FACT, I don't think ANY salons around my area HAVE sign in sheets... in FACT I know for SURE that at least 11 of them run strictly off the computer. No sign in sheets. No hassle. Nobody was "up your ***" I was simply stating my EXPERIENCE. You seem to have a bit of a complex, which is fine, I won't argue with you like a child. If you are ever in the Palos, Tinley or Orland area... visit any salon... tell me if you have to SIGN IN. As I said ABOVE, they DO fill otu a skin type analysis and a New Client Form stating that they will not use another facility, asks if they are on any medications... and so on... THOSE forms we have to Keep for 7 years, AND need to be RE-SIGNED by a clinet every YEAR.thats all I was saying.
PS I know I AM right (at least around my area). Because I have visited plenty of salons in Illinois, yes maybe 2 that I have visited I have had to sign in, but that was it, and i never went there again. Maybe where you are from the regulatons are a little steeper. Either that or ALL the inspectors THROUGHOUT The south suburbs are wrong and YOU are right, because NONE of the salons around me have ever had a warning or been shut down, and I have worked at 3 MAJOR chains in my Area. Thanks for your rude reply though.

Breaking NEWS If your state requires you to have sign in sheets. But you do have a finger verification system you DO NOT NEED them to sign in. That proves that they have tanned that day. Now if you do not have a finger verification system then by LAW you must have a SIGN IN SHEET. Illinois is one of those states if that count by this rule. The state makes the rules but it is up to the county to enforce them. So depeding on your county and how bad they want to enforce them this will come into play also. But if your using a finger verification system you do not need them to sign in. Many salons out there today do use a finger verification system.

Started off with the sign in sheets. All day long my employees will skip regular's when they come to tan. At the end of the day I can always go back and tan anyone they've missed. It saves me money. I do stress though clients be put in at the actual time they come in to have an accurate record of what bed they were tanned in and the time and minutes they tanned. Also have a problem with people thinking they have sessions left when they don't. So far with SunEase I have not figured out how to research the customers history to see all the exact days they have tanned during their package. All I can see is how many times they've tanned.
So at this time I just have to go through the sign in sheets and the log where we record all sold packages. It's time consuming. I just don't think the history shows much in the sunease program.

That's why helios is still number one. It's owner friendly. Great tech support that is if you get the right tech when needed.
