WE have a standarized release form signed by every client upon first visit to salon.
As far as daily sign in sheets we only use them during our prom & formal seasons. It makes life a lot more organized for the girls to keep track of who came in first, who has an appt & which unit the client is looking to tan in. |

I have Helios software and I use the sign in sheet because sometimes I am busy to post in the computer. I use it all the time not just special occasions. Creature of habit. Right now alot of customers are walkins and I might miss posting one. At the end of the day I check them off the sign in sheet.

Similar to what I do. I have an appt. book used to reserve beds but it's also for walk-ins. We write down who's where in the appropriate time slot and make sure the number of sessions match the Helios report.

Sign-in sheets....do you mean like
PLEASE SIGN_IN BED# NAME APPOINTMET TIME MINS DESIRED MEMBER or WALK IN I still use them ...I can cheat and Remember there name..Plus it helps people see what beds are open or whats Hot...it also gives me a change to ask "How are you tanning? or Do you need a lotion today? So if I signed a person up 3 days ago...and forgot there name for a split second..I just smile and say please sign in for me....Instead of asking "what was your name again" and again and again.. |

my salon is in Illinois as well and we are NOT required to use sign in sheets so i dont know why you would be CAN TANNER. Our clients Verify by finger print through a computer and they only sign paper work when they initially sign up. Yes they do have to sign a release every year though. in case rules or laws have changed.

Well, I was inspected not too long ago and YES ILLINOIS IS REQUIRES TO HAVE A SIGN IN SHEET. I was told that the computer can not do it all. We are not as fancy-chmancy as to have a fingerprint thingy but they still have to READ and SIGN that they have NOT tanned within the past 24 hours and they are not taking any NEW medication that is photosensitive. If you actually have it somwhere in writing from the health dept. that I am not correctly informed about laws then please let me know because I would do away with sign in sheets in a heartbeat.
AND PS we were not using sign in sheets at the time of inspection and I got one of those verbal/written warnings that we better have them next time. So please give me a place where I can prove that we are being shafted by the Health Dept. |

Illinois IS required by law to have sign-in sheets listing signature, change of medications/cosmetics (Y or N) and also have you tanned in the last 24 hours. Read your manual from the State. I read it 3 times over before I opened, and periodically to this date just to stay familiar with it. If you do not have sign in sheets and did not get written up, I'd say that your inspector is not familiar with the requirements either. I keep my salon running by the book, that way if an inspector would show up unexpected, I would have no worries as to whether or not I'd have a perfect inspection. Illinois in a lot of instances contracts their inspections out to be done by your county health dept. Mine is done by our county inspector. They sometimes are not familiar with the requirements. My inspector went so far as to ask me for a copy of my manual that I had to make to send to the state (before I opened). She wanted it to use herself as she went around town inspecting other salons. She didn't know what she was even supposed to be looking for. I feel comfortable knowing that I use the sign in sheets. Yes they are extra paperwork, but it is like a back up to my helios program, and also as stated in another post that "you did use your last tan and you tanned on such and such date...here is your signature". Also, if a tan is for some reason not entered into helios, at least you still have the sign-in sheet to find who tanned and didn't get their tan deducted.
