Hello. I am about ready to open a salon, and I was wondering what the age requirements shall be to let a person tan. Please reply back with your input.

Thank You.

Obviously you have not researched the business very well.
Are you in a regulated state ?

I don't think it's other peoples opinions so much, TANU01 is right you are by law able to tan certain age. I can tan anyone under 18, 16-17 with parents signature and parent does not have to be on the premises, but if they are age 14-15 their parents have to sign and they have to be on the premises. I guess if you wanted an opinion, mine would be do what you feel is right, mine is by the rules on that. Not worth getting in trouble. But you know what they say about opinions, they are like a--h----! Everyone has one!!

NC requires adult consent under 18.
I will vary from state to state. And our opinions dont matter. What does your state require is the answer.

The real answer is what do your state laws allow, not what everyone elses opinion is. I am sure most people here go with whatever their state laws are, if you would want to go older I guess that is your choice. We require parents consent for ages 14-17, noone under 14 tans.

State regs. come first, but what does everyones insurance company have to say? If you are having clients under 18 sign waivers that are not co-signed by a parent or legal gaurdian, than that waiver is useless. Minors cannot enter into a legal contract which is what a waiver is.

In California anyone under 18 has to have a parents consent, if 14 & under then the parent must be there...
