One thing no one has mentioned is the fact if you keep their lotions for them them are less apt to just stop somwhere eles today because its closer. But again you must teach each client how important it is to use lotion everytime they tan.

Thank you for the great ideas and your time writing them! We consider storing lotions to be a service that other salons don't want to mess with. I think we will go with a cabinet and try to store alphabetically. We have ten beds and are tanning 185 clients a day for June so far. We are storing over 200 bottles of lotion, so it must be important to our clients. We also acquired a Brother labeler to make a better impression. Thanks again!

what about charging the client 1 dollar a month to store their lotions that way if anything goes missing the money is there to replace it if nothing goes missing than you have dollars to pay for the hassle of keeping it organized and clean.

TE idea of storage lockers and rent them out for the month is the only way a salon should store bottles for the customers they have the key so no issues with lotion missing and you make profit.

Maybe if your in a real small town with not many customers then storing bottles I can see but not a 10bed plus store doing 300 people a day in season.

We recently switched the open baskets to a stacking drawer system located directly behind the receptionist. Small sign on drawers says "Please ask for help with your lotion !". We are now storing about 250 bottles, all labeled and stored by clients last name. Works great! Customers love it! It is the little things in your salon that are going to separate you from the competition. My competition agrees with the negative comments above and we're kickin' their butts! It is now the slow season and we are still fairly busy and our customer base is still growing.

We thought about storing bottles of lotions for the customers, but we get a lot of them that forget to bring them in, so we then sell them a packet. More $$$ for us.

I think storing them is great. We dont but I keep want to come up with something. I liek west side to though - im hoping they lose it. Sounds bad but its true. **** every retail business in the world want you to lose or break a product you like.

We have clear plastic zippered bags, that we use to charge $5/mo for lotion storage. Now we give them to our clients that purchase alot of lotion from us. Its our way of saying thank you, and the clients LOVE it. They feel they are special. We have had absolutely NO problems with anyone using another persons lotion.

In a smalltown salon I do beleive it would be a nice added benefit.
I don't think it would work well for us becasue during season we have hundreds of unique clients and since our salons are networked people will jump from one salon to the other depending on how busy one was or where they were that day.
