I've ask for advice many times on tantalk for the normal situations that come up in a tanning salon. This is very different and I really need some good advice quick. A key member of my staff passed away last night. In his memory, what would be the right thing to do. We are going to be closed Easter Sunday. Should I close the shop now ... should I stay open but do something special for him while we are open... I'm still in shock but want to do the right thing. If you have had a similar situation, I would appreciate some guidance.

I don't think I would close today. Maybe you could post something or do something special in "memory". I'm sure some of your clients don't know about it, and would appreciate knowing or something. I'm truly sorry, my prayers with his family and friends and you guys at the salon.

Thanks. I've posted an "in memory of Kevin" sign in the store front, called everyone who was close to him and will now go visit the family. I totally agree with your suggestion to remain open. It makes good sense. I didn't want to appear insensitive and now realize all the good that will be accomplished by staying open. Appreciate your prayers more than anything!
God Bless

Ditto. Good advice and sorry for your loss. I have not been though anything like that with an employee or relative. I know my time is coming though. It is a hard thing im sure. Best wishes - if you did happen to take some time out at the salon I think customers would understand. Im am pretty close with my entire staff - I dont think I would be up for working if someone passed.

The same thing happened here before I bought the salon. They remained opened, but did close for a few hours the day of the funeral so that all could attend.

Also keep in mind by staying open, it'll be good for you and the rest of the staff there. Death is a tough fact of life....know that others are thinking of you guys right now.

I"m so sorry to hear this. I would talk to your staff and get their feelings, but would lean toward remaining open except for closing for a few hours for the funeral
