My software allows sharing. The total number of visits goes on each person's name and as each uses a visit it subtracts from the total. It is not necessarily divided equally...whoever uses them uses them. I try to make it as easy to tan at our salon as possible with minimal rules. A Happy Tanner is a loyal tanner!

Pamtan.....I agree with you. I think Burger King taught McDonalds that you cannot tell the customer how they MUST use your service. This was the drive behind the whole "Have it your way" advertising campaign which took Burger King from the verge of Bankruptsy to the number 2 hamburger chain in the world. Now, of course, McDonalds is much more consumer oriented.
I would think that sharing would cause the client to use more service. Seems that you have the potential to get more people "tan-dependant"...??? IMHO. What is the name of the software you use? HT2 |

Right now we do not allow sharing packages. We did it for our Mayor, and it got to be very confusing with the tanning history of both clients. We ended up splitting up the units into each of their names.
In most cases when you explain that to the client, about tanning history, they understand and end up buying two packages. Had that just happen last evening. Mother came in and wanted to split a package for her and two daughters. Ended up buying three separate packages. I suppose if our software offered it, I may consider doing it. |

I'm with Pam. We use SunTouch software and it lets us share packages. We try to only let people living in the same household share the packages, however, I recently had a *** couple that do not live together want to share. Since I could tell they were going to be big spenders, I allowed it. (yes, I can be bought! LOL) I try to have as few rules and to be as customer freindly as possible.

Same as BronzeBiz, we allow sharing... What is the harm anyways, they use more points/lotion and people LOVE it! We let friends tan too, but we tell them we do not split the points and they must be accountable for the use. We also use Suntouch.

Maybe I need to check into Suntouch. I too am always trying to please my customers. We do have a few rules, but rules are made to be broken or changed. Its great being an owner and able to do that. Don't really have that many people wanting to share at this point.

We now allow sharing of any of our packages for an additional $10.Suntouch allows this, but no more than 2 people on a package. The $10 makes up the difference in the discount they get for buying a package, but it's still cheaper thatn walkins.

we do not share packages however we do have specific packages that client can share if they choose to do so, but would need to inform us at time of purchase. My belief is you dont purchase a gym membership and divide the weeks up to share with your friends.

Usually as the number of sessions in a package increaes the cost decreases. The more sessions a person buys the less it costs per session, it's called volume discounting. If you let two people tan on the same package you've just increased the volume discount. If 20 sessions costs $20 then each session is $2. If 10 sessions costs $30 then each session is $3.00. If two people use 10 each from 20 sessions, then they've each just rec'd another discount on top of the volume discount they got buying the package and you've lost money. No sharing, if you do the the prices of your packages should be based on say, $5.00 per session. 10 for $50, 15 for $45 and 20 for $100, now share all you want 'cause you're getting the same $$$ per session.
