Should employee\'s be required to tan? - Page 5

employees should not be required to tan but they should want to, i mean if they don't care about being tan will they care about tanning others, they should tan and they should use tanning products, that way they can give their honest opinion.

You have to believe in what you sell...if you are going to be a true superstar. Women look at other women and it helps if our staff is tan....it is what we do...

I'm afraid I have to agree with Jancy on most of this, but I see an opportunity for a skin type 1 to sell other things like spray tans?
I don't think for most employers that it is a problem, as most of them probably have the oposite situation happening. I have people come in at least twice a week to see if I'm hiring and I tell them not until I get more of a client base built up. Then I ask them if they are tanners? Some say yes, and some say no, but none of them have signed up or have even been interested in touring the salon to see what we have available...That is an indication to me that they are not really interested in tanning! (or working here)
There is always the question of what do you do with an employee that develops skin cancer & can't tan? Do you let them go?

I am having this problem right now with one of my employees who is in nursing school so she doesn't have time to tan during the week. She only works Sat. and Sun. and I told her I would give her 1 free mystic tan a week so she can have color when she's here. I came in on saturday and she hadn't done they mystic yet. This morning I look at her tan history and she did the mystic on SUNDAY NIGHT!!! WHAT THE ****!!! I'm gonna have to have a talk with her.
