I don't put out advertisement to hire sales people at the salon. I will ask some off my workers if they know of anyone if they do I tell them to come in and fill out an application. Depending on how they fill that out. I may call them back. They have to have an interest in tanning if they don't it won't help you. The girls that work for me are between 18 and 20 and in college.

Believe it or not all three of my employees were clients when we opened which was 2002. Not to say that we haven't been through a few others. We still have a few clients that ask if we are hiring, I usually have them fill out an application and tell them I will keep it on file.

thank you for all your responses and ideas. I have to say I placed a sign in the front window now hiring and it is incredible the turn out we received. I also decided to something completely different. I am not accepting any applications but resumes and I made a supplement form for them to answer specific questions. The resume is working out quite well due to the fact that anyone can simply sit down and fill out a application. A resume at least shows that they are somewhat competant. Also on the questionaire that I have them fill out at the time of turning in their resume, I asked specific questions to help me see their personalities. Some of these questions are pretty difficult but again the outcome has been awesome.

Great plan, this is what I do also sunlvnbabe. I don't have applications; I just have them turn in resumes. You can tell a lot from a resume, and you know they really want the job if they take time to make one and bring it in. It also makes the applicants feel as though they are applying for an important job. The other thing I have been doing lately that has worked out great, is having a couple of the applicants come in for a 'second interview.' This consists of having them work one night for our 3 busiest hours cleaning beds and greeting clients. (We of course pay them for these hours whether or not they get hired.) If they don't practically kill themselves trying to hurry and clean beds or greet clients, I don't hire them. It is their 3 hours to shine and make a great impression. I have had wonderful results and have actually not hired people I thought in the first interview were sure to get the position. Once again, when they do get the job, they feel great about it and work hard to keep it.

everyone has to fill out an application...we keep ours for two years...but I do not know if you have to keep them that long...
we ran a small ad in one of the local suburban newspapers...and we had over 100 calls....I could not believe it.....we also bought the Grip Marketing's "hiring questions"....there are only 3 but it really has helped our managers weed through people fast...it seems simple but we want a certain type of person...and it tells you a lot about the person...from 3 simple questions... _________________ [ This Message was edited by: DWhite6872 on 2004-12-24 15:20 ] |
