More than likely, right now its just myself, partner and daughter we will do something special since this will be during our "grand opening".

Down the road when I do have more employees, will also do something special for them. I guess I will think what would I want my boss to do for me? Goes back to the old saying, "do unto others" I agree with tanman.

For my clients i think i will do a tree with a bulb and with each bulb their will be something tied to it say a free tan, a free packet, a free lotion,20% a package ..thought it sounded like fun...for my girls i am not sure, because they really are so great, they deserve maybe a cruise...hehehehe..no not this year..can not decide what to do for them!! By the way .MaMa hello ..and how are you?

Our employees tan for free whenever there is an opening to tan, they only have to take the time off their timecard. As for bonuses, we give the person with the top sales for the month a $25 bonus, and then we have an Employee of the Month (selected by customers) who also gets a $25 bonus.

We have a Christmas gift exchange where we select one person to buy a gift for, so that we don't all have to buy 15 or so gifts. This year, we voted to have our party at Olive Garden, and everyone will buy their own meal. Last year we did a potluck at the salon (too much work, this year we are letting someone else pamper us!)

We draw names and have a gift exchange and I buy dinner some place like OutBack, etc. They tan free all year and get either free or heavily discounted lotions to use. I take them to shows and bring in goodies through the year.

I agree, we must show our appreciation to our employees. I have two terrific employees. They are honest, hardworking girls and I never have to worry about whether or not my salon is open. I know that it is and we all work together to fill in if someone has a family emergency (which just happened). They tan for free and get their lotions at my cost. I will probably do gift certificates to a nice restaurant and am looking into some sweatshirts (although I like the scrubs they have out now, could wear a long sleeve T underneath it in the winter) with the salon name and theirs on it. Up to any other suggestions.

I would have to say with this being the very~~very~~ slow time of the year it is very hard. However, I purchase eacg employee a gift, and take them out to dinner "Bottomless Margaritas" for everyone. I only have (2) employees so it is not that expensive for us. For a large salon the best thing to do is draw names, Secret Santa's etc..
