How I got into this industry: bad case of poison ivy, a derm told me to lay in a tanning bed, the UV would dry it up..when I realized how crowded th salon always was, my invetigation began..5 years latter, I owned several..
But, back on topic. Part of the anti-tan rhetoric, generated by the derms is due to the fact, they know the $$$ potential behind the industry. They want states to outlaw 'tanning parlors' (like 'tattoo parlors stigma), so they could offer tanning as an in-office procedure, and rake the insurance companies. |

I went to the derm with my daughter and low and behold...he has a stand up unit in his office. The office personnel say they use it all the time.
I have several clients who come in for psoriasis. It is amazing how it helps. One lady travels a lot for business and when she has been away for a week and comes back in, her skin is awful. After about a week in the bed (3-4X, it is almost cleared up again. |

I have 2 tanners who have suffered w/ it severly all their lives. Since tanning here, they have reported that the condition is almost entirely cleared up. One customer(male) commented that "You have no idea how nice it is to wear shorts or work out without a shirt on and not feel unconfortable becuz your being stared at." It has made a huge differance for both these guys and several others who tan w/us.

I have a few customers with psoriasis, and one of them has an actual prescription to tan in my salon...She does not get insurance to pay for it, but she takes it off her taxes every year...I have psoriasis too by the way, it sucks!!
Hope this helps! Aymi |
