My sister's boss wanted me to see if I could find an answer to her question...I have no idea. She says that for about 30 minutes after she tans (every time) her eyes are blurry (can't hardly see). She says she wears her goggles and has her eyes closed the whole time. Maybe someone will have an answer so I can let her know.

Sounds like a phenomena called Photokeratitis, which results in blurred spotted vision especially in bright light. The good new is that it is not permanent, the bad new is that every Photokeratitis event is one step closed to Macular degeneration. (Blindness)
It is really important when ever you tan that you wear eye protection during the entire session. I personally tan with only VIEWkeepers™ an Eyepro product. I just find that they tend to fit my eyes the tightest and there is never the temptation to adjust them, and I tend to get less non-directional light coming in from the sides of my eyes. Also with normal goggles there is always the temptation to adjust them so as not to get raccoon eyes. And remember your eyelid is so thin and translucent it provides no true protection from UV light. (Indoor tanning or Outdoor tanning) You should have your Sister’s Boss specifically ask for VIEWkeepers™ or WINK-Ease™ the next time she visits her salon. Or if you want more information regarding eye protection you can visit the Eyepro website @ http://www.eyepro.net/eye_protection/index.htm |

A lot of tanners are not educated to know that most eyewear is noncompliant without the strings... This means she is still exposing her eyes.. The ones that are regulated w/o the strings are VIEWKeepers and Wink-ease as Eric mentioned above... She should try these.. |
