I don't really know, but my friend had it done and they told her to just wait a couple of days to be on the safe side. Personally don't see why you really could not take afterwards as long as it is dry (if there is a drying period). I would think that if it had some noticable colors that after awhile it would fade away, but I think it might do that without tanning also.

You can tan anytime you want, but everytime you tan you need to put sunscreen on the tat.
If you do not, your tat will fade faster. Most tats need touched up in 10 yrs... a tat that has been tanned without 30block or so will need touched up in 4 or 5. Maybe less. I do not sunscreen mine... did... but gave up... It has been two yrs and I see little fading.. but I know it wil happen. Ask your tattooist, he/she will tell you. .. |

I have 4 tattoos, had three of them for over 6 years now, and I have never done anything special to them while tanning.I have noticed no fading at all.I think they tell you to stay out of swimming pools and the sun for two weeks afterwards.Professionally, I tell those who ask that they should cover them while tanning or use sunblock, but I don't follow my own advice...I am such a naughty girl!! Ha Ha!I think it really is a personal choice.

A tattoo is actually a minor abrasion, meaning after getting one, that skin is exposed for about 2 weeks - until it heals. Like it or not, it's best to wait the 2 weeks before you start tanning. Once you start back again, use the highest sunblock you can find, or even zinc oxide, on the tattoo to prevent fading. If you care about your ink, it's worth it. |

I recently "acquired" a tattoo also...the SPF lip balm is the easiest way to protect it (and fresh scars), but would use a towel until it is completely healed regardless. Been pretty lax lately cause I just can't reach back there...
