I believe if you do not have a washer and dryer in the salon you are really setting yourself up to fail. No Rich, we are not settin up ourselves to fail, we are only gettin ourselves ready to excell.
If you cannot fit one in the salon you are in the wrong place. Could be, but we all have to start somewhere, Right? If you cannot afford one you are in the wrong business.Sometimes it takes crawlin before you start walkin. Just my opinion. We all have them, and thanks for sharin yours. |

What I am saying is if your building is too small to even accomadate a washer and dryer how can you grow in that space? This business is all about growth.
If you cannot afford a washer and dryer you are way undercapitalized and you should really rethink how and why you are doing business. A washer and dryer cost roughly $500 new, half that used. If a business cannot afford that to help their efficiency and improve their business they are in real trouble. I believe if you have set yourself up in this situation you have in fact set the factors in motion to fail. I am not being smart assed, indifferent, mean, short tempered or anything else. I am telling you the truth. If your distributor told you they could not get your product out to you because you were out of tape your response would be the same. A washer and dryer are tools of the trade just like new bulbs are. |

The salon I just bought doesn't have one but we are going to try and put one in. I'd really like a stackable set so it won't take up very much room. As long as I don't have to bring them home, I will be happy! Who wants to work all day and then bring home laundry to do?? Yuck!

Yes, we only have room for the stackable. Since we traded in two old beds for one new bed, I now have the room on the electrical panel for a set. I am so happy about this. no more lugging towels around.

OH-MY-GOD! I cannot imagine not having my W & D. We opened without one and it was ****. We have a high-pressure bed going all day and that's 12-14 big towels. I found one in the neighborhood newspaper for $200 (used set). Man, I feel for you guys that lug all those towels home every night. Staying up late, doing towels is probably the last thing you want to do doing!

Well I bought an abundance of towel so if I need to I can skip a couple of days of doing them. In the peak season we went to the laundry mat. I paid a girl $35 aweek to keep them up during the busy times. But do them myself in the slow times. All this is about to change, Thank goodness!

You will be SO happy Mitzi.....it will be really nice to not to have to lug them home. We have about 400 towels per salon and I can't imagine trying to haul them around. On days when we are tanning 350-375 clients that is over 700 towels!!! Wow...never thought of it like that.....and I have folded, and folded ,and folded!!!!

I know this is an old topic BUT:
I also recently purchased a salon without a washer/dryer and it has been rough lugging towels to the laundromat. I do have enough towels to get me through 21/2 day without doing any laundry, but that's almost worse to have to do 20 loads at once. So I "hired" a high school student to come in after school, pick up the laundry and wash/dry/fold all of my towels. Of course I pay the expense. He can do his homework at the laundromat while everything is washing and earns free tans for doing it. It has been the best solution I can come up with until this summer when I can get a plumber to put in the works for a washer/dryer. |
