I am so glad we finally got our sound system in. We have a central stereo receiver and 5 disc changer. Each room has an in-wall speaker with a volume control. We have a variety of music on CD and play them on shuffle. I just got another compliment about how nice it sounds. Before this we had individual boom boxes with headphones that continually broke. The only negative I have heard is that one woman said her ears got burned without the headphones.

Check out XM Satelite For your salon. NON STOP MUSIC with 180 channels, and NO COMPETITOR COMMERCIALS!!! I had to get it when all the salons were running ads on the radio.

I installed the same thing two years ago when I opened. I put two infinity speakers in each room with volume knobs. In the front a denon receiver with disc player. I also have satallete? for different music and tv.

We get compliments every day on our music. They love not having headphones to mess with.

Aren't some clients complaining because you aren't playing their kind of music? I have a diverse age group and would have no idea of which 5 cd's to play.

Nope. Except for my teenage nephew who wants Eminem, we have only had compliments. I have a variety from light Jazz to oldies to some country. It is on shuffle so no one type gets played all the time. Kind of like an easy listening radio station. It is working well for us. They can turn volume completely off in their room if they don't like what we have. I have clients from 12 to 75 years.

I get the NOW CD's that have all of the popular, current songs on them. I also have the past four years of the Grammy nomination CD's. I have only had compliments on the music.
Now I just wish I could figure out how to get individual speakers in each room with volume controls instead of mounted on the walls and piped through the whole salon. Details, anyone? Pam...??
