Rep Power: 8 Bronze Star will become famous soon enough
I am putting this thread in view of everyone instead of hiding it away in the Salon only forum. I think this is an important issue... checking up on the hired help. For the good and the bad... employees must be and should be watched. A family member of mine recently acquired two retail/food establishments as an investment and quickly learned to watch the hired help.

She sits across the street with binoculars and learned the most amazing things about her workers. Now mind you, they have video surveillance... but the employees eventually figured them out. So, armed with spy goggles in hand, she sat for a few evenings across a busy street in a parking lot and learned A LOT!

She not only discovered which ones were goofing off and doing things they shouldn't... she also found out who her tried and true team members were. She discovered all was not what it appeared to be and those she THOUGHT she could trust, she couldn't and were making her hard working, trustworthy employees look bad.

I can't say that I wouldn't spy... but if it came down to it, I would.

A story from my past.

Years ago I worked in a grocery store. I was the least on the senority pole. Money kept missing from MY drawer. I knew I wasnt' stealing it, and didn't think I made THAT many mistakes. Needless to say, finally the management said they had to start somewhere and let me go. I was so upset and crushed.

About a week later the owner/homeoffice decided to put a detective across the street with binocs. Guess who was doing all the stealing? The very one that let me go and one employee, The manager was dateing the employees mother.

So I can see how this is good practice. I have done it here as well. Long time ago.

I admit it...I am a spy. Pays off handsomely and can be fun, in a gut-wrenching kind of way.
