Since you do alot of testing have you figured out the best voltage to run your lamps,is there a corelation between higher voltage and higher lamp output and lower voltage and lower lamp output versus getting the most hours out of the lamps .What voltage do you run and what voltage do the manufactures of the lamps test there lamps at.Thanks for your respnse. |

'53 Corvette:
Good question. Yes, there is a correlation between voltage and sunlamp output. As you increase the voltage, the "output" increases. Our studies show that an increase of approximately 5 volts will shorten the Te (time to 4.0 MED) time by one minute. Most sunbed manufacturers specify approximately 230 (+/- 6) volts with the exception of Dr. Mueller who suggests that their new Giant Sun be operated at approximately 250 volts. Keep in mind that "overdriving" sunlamps comes with a price (there is no "free lunch") and that "price" is the reduction of the "life" of the sunlamp. Also keep in mind that the power coming into your salon will vary from time to time. In Tucson for instance, the power company is "allowed" a variance of plus or minus 8 volts.
