Don: You and Pat have my sympathies.

I had to put a canine member of my family to sleep once. It was one of the most difficult experiences of my life.

Buddy, a mixed shepherd, was my oldest and most loyal friend.

People who don't have pets cannot understand this, but most of us have loved a dog or cat as if they were a child or a sibling. After Tater died I searched scriptures in hopes of finding conformation that he and I could one day meet again. Some people thought I was crazy or over reacting. That is how one can grow to love an animal. I know you loved your this way too, take the time you need to mourn and know that we are all thinking of you.

I am sorry for your loss. It is strange how much our pets mean to us. I have had the same painful experence twice in my life. You are shocked at your grief.

Aww My heart goes out to you guys. I am a dog lover too and spent the last week nursing a sick and malnourished stray back to health before finally taking her off to the local animal rescue. Broke my heart to leave her but our house is a zoo already. It's true...our pets are our family You'll have lots of happy memories of Sammie and I'm sure will continue to open your hearts to other pets. Here's to hoping your heart heals quickly and with fond memories instead of sadness.
