Just wanted to say that if your salon does not have a security system, you should look into having one installed. It is one of the best things I did for the salon, I feel so much better when I leave and hit that little away button and it is armed. Also when I am there I like having that complete sense of security if something were to happen(knock on wood). Also look around at all sorts of security companies I had one installed, not having to pay for equipment or installation, and all I have to do is pay a fee once a month. Best money spent-you can never be to safe. And the best part is the equipment is yours, if i were ever to leave the building I am in I can take it right with me!
Be safe!

it is a must have, you spend so much time and effort to create a business the last thing you need is someone to come in and destroy it.
not only that contact your insurance agent and you might be eligable for a discount on your premium.

A good security system is a must! Although, those middle of the night calls for false alarms get old! We kept getting motion alarms but lately it hasn't been too bad.

If you have a cable modem at home and at work you can use a web camera on in your shop and watch it at home when ever you want to see whats going on, there is also software that will trigger an alarm when motion is detected and take pictures and send them to you over the web and trigger an alarm.

There is great comfort in having an alarm system. But, be aware. If a criminal wants to break into your home or business bad enough, they will.

DO NOT stand at the front counter and count down your register at the end of the night. Someone could be sitting in their car watching you. Criminals will normally watch a business for several days or weeks to learn your patterns.

Great point Elsa. When I was in the military, one thing they taught us was to vary our routine. Everything from how we closed each night to the route we took going home. If we established a pattern it would be too easy for a theif, mugger, terrorist to take advantage... so we were taught to never be predictable. I had that so drilled into my head during my stint that 15 years later I still abide by it.

Remind me sometime to tell you about the time I set the alarm off TWICE one morning.
