Will Don Speak??? - Page 5

We are working on a new time.. so everyone can attend all the scheduled events that ITA/Smart Tan has already scheduled for the people attending the show.. They have a bunch of great things we don't want you to miss..

We are waiting to hear back from Opryland as to a new time.. We are looking at Friday about 6 or 6:30 ....as to not conflict with anything or anyone..

Chris, you are too diplomatic. We really need to know how many people are going to show up to hear Don speak. We may have to book a time across the street at the Radison which would mean the meeting could take place at anytime. Please everyone respond.

Christine/Jim:

Let's be candid with the folks.

The ITA/Smart Tan people ARE NOT happy about having me speak in Nashville. A lot of people have called me to "suggest" that I will pee off a lot of people if I do so.

And you are having trouble getting a room at the Opryland Hotel (at a convenient time) because of the fact that the pressure that is being brought to bear on the hotel.

IMHO, Friday night isn't too good of a time because (1) everyone will be tired by then (who wants to sit through yet another meeting!), and, (2) they will be wanting to get cleaned up for the "party" Friday night.

Thus, perhaps we should either (a) move to another venue at the time we choose, or, (b) "deep six" the idea of a talk and I will prepare some "send out" information for those who wanted to attend.

The thing that amuses me is that the ITA/Smart Tan people (the "Old Boy Network") would raise such a counterproductive "fuss" over 75 people meeting. Far better from a PR point of view for them to just have ignored us but, as is obvious here, they want to control EVERYTHING!

Le's look at this situation as some lessons to be learned.

- The first lesson is that the OBN (old boy network) doesn't care anything about what tanning salon owners want to hear at the trade show.

- The second lesson is that the OBN will do everything they can to "stand in the way" of anyone doing ANYTHING that they can't control.

- The third lesson is that their activities to prevent our little meeting from taking place (when they should have just ignored it!) is symptomatic of an "arrogant attitude" that permeates the OBN and that knows no bounds.

- The fourth and final lesson is that this situation proves that the tail IS wagging the dog.

Don,
I would hate for you to cancell...Please reconsider.I will not be attending only becuase I refuse to attend Trashville..oops sorry, Nashville. That is just my humble opinion.
I would hope that at least YOUR speach, and/or conference would be an option to those who do attend. Sending out info packets are just not the same.
Do not let the ITA ,the well estabilished GOBN (good old boys network, as I call them), or anyone else stop you from speaking. Please!!

Think about it more.. are you really going to let them have this victory?? Beside I am sure most who want to attend will not mind giving up there "getting ready time".

We've missed you!

I will be willing to speak in a parking lot across from Opryland at midnight with only one person in attendance!

However, the "realities of life" are causing logistical problems that cannot be overlooked.

BTW, I like GOBN better than OBN!

By cancelling we will be allowing them to win by 'silencing' you. It doesn't matter where you end up speaking, we will be there! Handouts are great to take home and review but are no substitute for a live interaction!

The Radisson will work.

I have a call into the Radison Opryland right now. If I can get the room, Chris may just transfer her reservations to the Radison also it will be for Sat. 10/9/02 9am to 12pm. I don't know (or care) if that conflicts with the ITA agenda. Hang on and I will post when I hear from the Rad.

Transformations Tanning and Skin Care Studio has chosen to sponsor Don Smiths speech in Nashville..
This was a promise I am going to keep.. Remember I am the director of the studio.. So Please no one talk for me on this..I have not done anything wrong here..and I was upset enough over this yesterday..
I only want us to grow as professionals in our skin care knowledge!!
It is our desire to get information out to owners regarding the Dermatology Community..and their big lies.. No one is stepping on toes... Agree....

It was never a desire to rock anyones world...

We will have a meeting.. So start preparing your speach Don.. Many of us have years of experiance in tanning and are skin care professionals.. We want this information.. We need this information..

This will work out so no one feels threatend.
Just everyone make your reservations for Nashville.. I'm sure there is gonna be a whole lot goin on.. you won't want to miss..

Ok.. heres the situation..
We have options..
we can move the meeting to a near by hotel..and keep it Sat. 10-12 or do it later on in the day at Opryland ..( I need to get back with the hotels on this)

We don't want anyone or any organization getting angry with this meeting.. We are getting much needed information regarding the Dermatology Community..
Most of us wanting this information have been to the "same meetings" and we want to gain this knowledge.. we are NOT competition for other meetings going on.. we are NOT selling anything as to compete with vendors.. We are learning how to better understand what we are fighting...and how to deal with questions asked by our clients...

Please post if you want the meeting to stay the same time..and if you are willing to go hear Don speak at a different location while in Nashville..,
