My "thanks" to Christine and Jim for making a very generous gift to help support our activities at the UVR Research Institute.
Our work was instrumental in the development of the forthcoming "standard protocol" for testing a sunlamp in a test stand (presented on February 7 & 8, 2002 at the FDA meeting) and it will be EVEN MORE helpful in formulating the "standard protocol" for testing sunbeds and booths (where the "variables" are more numerous and complex). This data will be presented at the forthcoming October, 2002 meeting. [Note: And don't forget that it was my testimony (based upon work done at the UVR Reseach Institute) that was the "key" to getting the FDA proposals for (1) Warning Labels, and, (2) Amendment 3 - Definition of a Manufacturer that would have been "harmful" to tanning salon owners "rejected" by the TEPRSSC committee at the 5/22/2002 meeting!] In addition, we will present the only "independent" test data regarding eyewear protection devices at the October, 2002 meeting. Finally, our mailing of the list of "Tanning Terminology" to the nation's media is having VERY positive results! Anyone else who wishes to help support our activities can send a check made out to: 1. NAATSO (or the North American Alliance of Tanning Salon Owners). 2. Marked to support the work at the UVR Research Institute. 3. Sent to: NAATSO/UVR Research Institute 1750 E. Ft. Lowell, Suite 120 Tucson, AZ 85719 4. NAATSO is a 501 (c)(6) not-for-profit Arizona Corporation. Our Tax I.D. number is 86-0960010. All donations of $100.00 or more will receive: 1. Customized (to your salon) skin typing/subtyping and informed consent forms that can be copied and used. 2. A "format" for calculating exposure schedules. 3. A "Drugs Known To Cause Photosensitivity" list that can be copied and given out to your clients. 4. An "instruction manual" for using hand-held radiometers. We need YOUR help!
