You guessed it. We started making rice jewelry. I have the capability of writing 4 names on 1 small grain of rice. It took about 25 tries but I did it!!! We now have divided our jewelry into 4 different lines.

Beware - making rice jewelry is only for those who have PATIENCE and a steady hand.

Tangirl - I'll send you some photos of our new styles.

That sounds really neat. Does it take special tools, etc.?

Not really. Go to Rings-Things.com and type "rice" in the search button. They have all the info and really cute vials. It's a new ball game with this line. I just wrote Snow White and all the seven dwarfs on rice. It's going to be my disney "theme" necklace. Sooo.....if anyone copies my idea, please mention a fellow tanning salon owner from the East Coast. :0)

Hmmm, how about special orders for Mother's Day next season? A grain of rice for each child's name...

Tamar,

Right on!!! We're doing a "Family Tree" necklace. I made one with my name, my fiancee and two dogs. Been practicing on numbers (birthdays). Happy Anniversary, Happy Valentine's Day, Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday are challenging. Hee hee

Is anyone else interested in this new form of jewelry????

I have seen these once before, at a craft show or something, they are really neat but I cannot see myself doing it.

I have seen them too Teresa, it looks so cool, I think I saw it in Nashville last year. I would love to try it but I don't think I have the time right now, maybe later after I finish up school. It is very pretty.

If you have down-time from tanning (and it's ok with the boss...unless YOU ARE the boss), it's the perfect time to practice.

Here's how to start ...visit your local grocery store, buy Jasmine Rice (this works the best). Go to craft store and buy a few .005 pens (these work the best). Total cost is under $5.00. Start with short names....

I bought another bead tray and started separating the good pieces of rice by most
Popular Names. Trays are marked accordingly: Kathy, Kathie, Katie, Kim are all in one little tray.

It's tons of funs!!!
