FYI:
If you click on the link below, you will be able to read and print out the "summary" of the "verbatim transcripts" from the May 22, 2002 TEPRSSC meeting. In the summary version, the comments made regarding CT and Personal Body Scanners were excluded and only the comments of interest to the indoor tanning industry were listed. You will recall that there were "comments" made "online" by certain individuals regarding (1) who said what, and, (2) who the speakers were representing. The verbatim transcripts will put these issues to bed once and for all and you will note that they substantiate my statements and not the "self-serving" statements made by others! These "verbatim transcripts" also eliminate the attempt "after the fact" to "spin" what took place at the TEPRSSC meeting by a certain organization. They will also give you a "reference point" to evaluate the "fairness" of the "coverage" of this important meeting by the four trade publications. http://www.naatso.org/frameset_events.htm Call me (1-520-975-0180 - Mobile) if you have questions. The "score" so far:
1. Looking Fit has a "summary" of the TEPRSSC meeting and had the editorial honesty to mention that I had "carried the water" for the industry. 2. Tanning Trends must have attended a different meeting than I did. Their biased and innacurate report made it appear that the folks from ITA were the key players at the meeting. If TT would have reported the truth instead of "spinning" the story, they would have stated that they were only spectators. It will be interesting to see what Today's Image and Island Sun Times have to say! While at the LV show I was repeatedly asked why the trade pubs "suck up" to ITA so much and "slant" the news in their favor. I explained that the $$$ that the vendors spend on advertising "corrupts absolutely" the veracity of the stories. Sad but true. That's why those same individuals told me that they increasingly turn to the internet for factual information. I was gratified to learn that the "Ask Don" forum was one of their favorites. Thus far Tanning Trends is in the lead for the "suck up to ITA" award on the coverage? of the TEPRSSC meeting. Don "Who KNOWS What Happened" Smith |
