Tell us about what marketing and advertising tactics you use, what works, and what doesn't, for your area. What was your most creative, and what was your biggest (and most expensive)flop? How did timing play a role? What group do you target, and which do you avoid?

I do it all myself because I am small and in a really small area. Direct Mail, always, always send a thank you to new customers and one to my regular customers when they buy something.

Flyers in local paper-give the papergirl tanning.
Signs, proms with 2 high school, donations, newsletter.

We recently drove up and down a highway putting signs out for #2 and now, a week later, they've all been pulled! We know it was a competitor and not the wind blowing them down, but that's ok, we only used half of what we had. We'll just be a little more sneaky and creative next time!
