Steve asked this very good question on TanToday.
I suggest Bob and Bruce. Sorry guys but I think you are the best choice. Why? They work and live in the same area so they could sign checks without a problem, they repersent the majority of salon owners, they both repersent too side of the tanning industry, Bob has great contacts with the Max/Bill Pipp/the ITA/Lonn and other ITA people we will need to participate, Bruce has the been a leading advicoate for the NAC, Both know and speak with Don Smith, and they counter each other so well we all can trust them. |

Greg:
Listed below is a post I made on another thread that summarizes my feelings regarding who should be on the NAC Organizing Committee. Bob: You said "Step 1) Greg, Steve, Bruce, Lonn, Chunn, Don, M&C, Larry, and myself (if all want me in this) all put up $100 to start a corp." and you lost me right there! Most salon owners are of the female persuasion and your plan does not seem to recognize this important fact. Who in **** says that the "NAC Organizing Committee" should be dominated by people whose only qualification is that they stand up to pee? The "old boy" network of ITA is part of the problem we are dealing with so let's not set up another male dominated organization. Therefore, I propose that the "NAC Organizing Committee" be made up of (1) Sheila, (2) MJ, (3) Christine, (4) Linda, (5) Stephanie (Bob's wife), (6) Mitzi, (7) Terri (from Lincoln, NE), (8) Ree, and, (9) Carol ( of M & C) (and 3 other ladies to make up a "Distaff Dozen"). We males should stand back and let these 12 "dynamo's" get this thing off the ground. Then, if the NAC Committee thinks that Lonn's idea is worthy of support, let's find a way to fund it. If they think that Bruce's idea is the best, then let's get behind that. If they think that my program has merit, then some help would be appreciated. But first the "NAC Organizing Committee" must be agreed upon and set up. Don |

FYI From Another Thread:
Distaff Dozen: Are you ready to rumble? Bob agrees with the "Distaff Dozen" for the "NAC Organizing Committee" so what are we waiting for. Let's get this show on the road! Don [Distaff Dozen = (1) Sheila, (2) MJ, (3) Christine, (4) Linda, (5) Stephanie (Bob's wife), (6) Mitzi, (7) Terri (from Lincoln, NE), (8) Ree, and, (9) Carol ( of M & C) (and 3 other ladies to be selected later). FYI:
I am absolutely AMAZED at all of the "attacks" I am getting on the other websites (and here) for having the AUDACITY to recommend that the "Distaff Dozen" head up the NAC Organizing Committee! Do these guys have something against women? Or do they have another agenda? Not the response I expected! What's going on here? Don "Amazed" Smith |

Don.. thank you for the vote of confidence and your respect for WOMEN....the BOYS could learn something from you.! I do believe they do have "ISSUES" but most women expect that and have learn with ways to deal with situations like that.
However I think the board should be made of a MIX of people... small salon owners, mixed with multi Salon owners. As well as the proper mix of genders. I will have to decline the offer, Sorry! conflict of interest (Bigdog B.O.D.) BUT I would like to say...Bigdog is going to start raising Money for The NAC sooooo Any NAC outthere would be considered as a potenial benefactor of our funds.. After a few short qualification questions are anwsered ..Of course just contact Kimmie Sheila, or Myself.... we are in the process of setting up a means to raising the money as we speak.. MJ |

I have not problem with Bob being on this committee, Bob is a smart cookie and knows lots of people.
MJ, you would make a great asset as well. Please reconsider. Oh shoot, I got busy and lost my train of thought. Just know I will do all that I can in this effort. |

The nails, hammers, and other tools necessary are scattered all over this board. I see great ideas, comments, and enthusiasm for this project, but unfortunately it is in much need of one starting point. You can't start at the roof...how about a specific forum for the National Ad Campaign?
Subcategories: Board of Directors Team Leaders Q&A for Salon Owners Wording of Ads Funding/Budget Scientific Info Smart Tan Answers for the Public Regional Consumer Feedback I'm sure I've missed something...comments? Time to pull this together and get organized. Build it and they will come. |

Bingo Mitzi! I'll supervise while you dig, I have an aversion to callouses. I have been known to get my hands dirty and, since I have a good base tan, I'd be willing to stand out in the sun and "perspire" (as we Southern gals call it).
Mori can you get started on the lemonade, please? Might need a little extra shot of something in mine by the end of this day. |

I believe Bob is an excellent choice and I would also like to see a woman have the position along with Bob..Having a National Bank that can in a minute get two signatures is not a problem across the miles, so suggesting two live near each other is not important..
My sister and I sign checks all the time in regards to "family matters" and I am in Fla she is in Michigan..In two minutes it is a done deal. The important thing is to see who will give their time and heart to these decisions for the BEST OUT COME.. Bob gets my vote off the bat. Again I think a meeting in Vegas should be called. This way we can begin to work the plan. C |
