Part of my lotion order arrived Wednesday on my day off. Whoever checked it in, priced it and displayed it put the wrong retail price on it. Because of manufacturer or distributor discounts... lotions that cost a certain price are between 40 to 50% off salon cost. Even though we get this savings, we still charge either the full retail amount OR close to it. The lotion that arrived yesterday should have been marked about $10 higher than it was.
Now what do I do? I am considering not reordering the lotion for awhile and then when I re-stock, raise the price. What do you suggest? BTW, it's flying off the shelf, of course. |

Laurie,
Did you say your salon was computerized???? My employees price everything by what the computer sayes, since that is the price it is going to sell them at and they cannot change that. Because I sell somethings above and some below suggested retail price, the invoice price means nothing to them. If your inventory is not computerized maybe you should try to keep a master price list and have them go by that to price merchandise, even if you are adding a new product you can add it to your price list before it arrives because you should know what you are paying for it and what you are going to retail it for. |

I suggest putting a sign up Limited Time Sale Price, Then after a couple of days reprice it where it should be.
This way when people come back to get more, they will not get so po'd of the price increase. |

Yes we are computerized, but only using it as a register right now. (expensive register) The lotion database is innaccurate and reflects our product list from 6 months ago. None of the new lotions or NEW lotion line is even listed. I don't have access to add or delete new lotions or change prices. I don't even have access to give myself access. It will take time and will eventually happen. IN the mean time I'm letting interested clients know it was priced wrong and to buy it now while it's good... We'll price it correctly when we re-order.

Hey!!! I got it today! The gal who set up our software gave me full priveledges today so I can edit, delete and add as I see fit. LOL At one point though I boo-boo'd and called Tech support. I was pleased that they not only took my call quickly, but the solution was simple and a very quick fix. I would have never caught my error on my own.
All is well... the new lotions are in at the correct prices and the old ones are out. The ones on sale have the discount added. Too cool. Thanks Chippp for the friendly push. |
