-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes Don - What if we are both right? What if we are both wrong? I believe I have been pretty clear on my opinion that WE are BOTH right & that you are the only one that WANTS to have US segregated . . . and that would make us BOTH WRONG. You think that was venom??? You have forgotten just how potent this chickster can be ~ I have been on my BEST behavior, and only because I do love you. . You want to hide your "answers" from the rest of US . . . that’s okay love . . . you are not the only one that has gleaned the good of what UVR can do for the human body and spirit . . .. And just checked the status of my panties . . Apparently, you need to wear some in order for them to get in a bunch. I am all about - cutting to the chase love. I do wish you well - - - but I will not ignore you and move on (as I am assuming your little smack was meant to achieve) . . . My need for helping the industry far out weighs my ego or your slights to it. Still loving your crabby ol' self ~ ~ ~ Sheila ~ ~ -------------------- "That is why you would be an asset. Sheila:
My thoroughly enjoyable trip "back to the past" (my 50th class reunion) gave me some new perspective. I belive that we are both right! We need to hit the media and the world-wide regulatory community with a "blitzkreig" of scientific information (which "Ask Don's Army" will focus on) AND we need to find a way to "get the message" out to the great "unwashed masses" (the people who are afraid to tan because they believe the "nonsense" put out by the anti-tanning segment of the dermatology community) and THAT is what I hope you and your "team" will concentrate on. If by chance both "teams" achieve success, the total will be more than 1 + 1 = 2. What caused my "epiphany"? I learned that the good folks out in Nebraska thought that tanning was "bad" even though they admitted that (1) they felt better in summer when they were out in the sun, and, (sadly!) (2) that most of them were suffering from diseases associated with sub-optimal vitamin D levels (interestingly, the two of us who had the best "health" of the returnees are both "tanners". Coincidence? I don't think so!). We have an OBLIGATION, Sheila, to find a way to get the "message" out to the American public that the benefits of sensible, moderate and responsible exposure to UVR outweigh the minimal and manageable risks involve. Also, I have a new "awareness" and "appreciation" for the "...and tanning" establishments (businesses where something else but tanning, i.e., hair, nails, etc.,) is the primary business. Why? Because NO ONE in their right mind would try to open a "tanning only" establishment in a small, Nebraska (2,000 - 3,000 people) town. Therefore, what the industry needs is for more hair salons and nail salons in these small towns to add a tanning bed so that more people in rural America will have "access" to tanning (the waitress where we ate told Pat that she has to drive 45 miles each way to tan!). So, Sheila, GOOD LUCK! with your "campaign" and I hope you will wish "Ask Don's Army" the same. Don "Proud To Lead Ask Don's Army" Smith PS: Everyone but me had aged during the past 50 years! I was the "Dorian Gray" of the class. LOL |

Don ~ I am depressed with your decision to segregate the effort. I know that it cannot be done with a divided camp ~ and you are smart enough to see this as well.
It is really a shame that you would insist on this course as all military strategies follow the Divide and Conquer premise ~ your Don's Army will blindly do your bidding (I must sadly give up my commission as admitting to being blonde is not the same as admitting to being blind) and you should also disregard the e-mail that I sent you - - as non of the sentiments apply any longer. I will not wish you luck Don ~ as it was NOT YOU I was cheering for . . . but for the entire Indoor Tanning Industry . . . You keep breaking my heart you old poop! Sheila |

If you don't "get it" soon, I'm going to start telling blonde jokes. LOL What I am saying is that a "two front" stategy makes sense! That is not the same as each of us going our own way. Ask Don's Army will wage war on the media/regulatory "front" and your merry band of warriors will fight the battle to make sure that the American public is educated and informed. After the "war" is won, we'll all meet in Paris and have a beer! Don "The Old Poop" Smith |

~ Don . . . .
I hate beer . . . start taking a fine quality whiskey and we have the makings of a nite you will never want to tell your grandkids about Now - - - admittedly . . . blonde. But let's deal with each other with other facets of our DNA ~ after all . . . it is time to cut to chase my love . . .. Historically this industry has been UNABLE to gather the necessary force of will to help itself . . .. did you get a magic wand in Nebraska???? If a combination of Science and Public awareness is NEEDED (and I believe we ALL agree that it is) WHY split the forces - - - you will never be able to attack and divide and conquer the Anti - Tans . . . and their strangle hold on the Media will not be loosened by weird science alone . . . . Why does it seem that your decision to have our merry band of warriors fight the battle to make sure that the American public is educated and informed. is the hardest task on the plate - - - better handled in a concerted effort rather than in 2 different battles . . . . Perhaps this blonde cannot "get it" cause I believe that survival requires the ability to kick serious *** . . . . and requires a sense of immediacy that is lacking in our past and current histories. Let me sleep on this - - - and revisit it with a new soul tomorrow ~ ~ perhaps I can get a box of some dye . . . how do you feel about Red Heads? Still loving your cranky old ***. Sheila |

Sheila:
You asked "how do you feel about Red Heads?"? My answer is that I used to be addicted to red heads with great legs and big boobs! However, now that I am happily married to a blonde..... (Miss Patricia has a knife Lorena Bobbit gave her so I am a REFORMED addict!) Now, back to the subject. In addition to leading Ask Don's Army in the battle against irrational actions by regulatory agencies and stopping the blind acceptance by the media of the nonsense handed them by the anti-tanning dermatology "kooks", I will also serve as your unpaid "science officer" (picture Spock with smaller, sexier ears!). Yes my dear, you HAVE picked the largest part of the elephant to eat. Educating and informing the public is a DAUNTING task. BUT, and this is a big but (question: why do women always ask their significant other if their butt is too big?) since the only way to eat an elephant is one small bite at a time, when will you sit down and start eating? Chairman Don says that "a walk of a thousand miles starts with one step" (or was that Chairman Mao?) Here is my (free) suggestion that won't cost much money. Develop an ad that can be run in local papers by salon owners at their expense and make it available to those who join your merry band of warriors. The only cost will be in preparing it and printing it on "camera ready" paper. I have also, as a public service, come up with a name for your merry band of warriors. "Sheila's Sagacious Sojourners." Don "No More Red Heads" Smith PS: I AM NOT cranky (well, maybe a little bit grouchy sometimes); rather, I just don't suffer fools gladly. Don ~ thank you for the belly laugh your post has given me . . . . next to tears of despair ~ belly laughs are my favorite of emotional outburts
And thanks to Webster.com for making my journey to find this easier : One entry found for sagacious. Main Entry: sa·ga·cious Pronunciation: s&-'gA-sh&s, si- Function: adjective Etymology: Latin sagac-, sagax, from sagire to perceive keenly; akin to Latin sagus prophetic -- more at SEEK Date: 1607 1 obsolete : keen in sense perception 2 a : of keen and farsighted penetration and judgment : DISCERNING b : caused by or indicating acute discernment synonym see SHREWD - sa·ga·cious·ly adverb - sa·ga·cious·ness noun . . . . figures ~ I finally get a Latin term in my honor ~ and it has nothing to do with sex!! What the **** is that about? Some how I don't believe "Shrewd Sexual Favors " will ignite the troops to the rally . . . . I may have to buy the Red dye after all!! I thank you for your suggestions and will talk to a guru of such things and see how he feels about redheads . . . . til I recuperate from last nites follies ~ I will lay off . . . with the exception I have with what constitutes the biggest part of this elephant . . . . Love ya Don ~ I kid you not! later S |

Sheila:
OK, my dear, I am (finally) recovered from my trip to attend the TEPRSSC meeting and my flight to Nebraska to "trip down memory lane" at my high school reunion. Now, we are going to "get down to specifics" regarding where we should go. But first, do you know what you call a woman who knows where her husband is every night? A widow! LOL Now for the "first round" of the debate. What, in your opinion, "battle" are we fighting. 1. Are we fighting a "political" battle? 2. Are we fighting a "scientific" battle? 3. Are we fighting a "public relations" battle? 4. Or is the battle we are fighting a combination of the above? In summary, Sheila, don't you think that we should "clearly define" what battle we are going to fight BEFORE we decide how to fight it? I will hold my breath while I await your errudite answer.
