To be honest I seldom hear of someone buying lotion online. What I do have a lot of though is off-brand lotions coming into the salon. "eurotan, no-ad, L.A. Express, baby oil". And lately I am more worried about those lotions than making the money I need to off of the lotions on the shelf. The acryllic in one of my rooms is scratched, and the other day baby oil was all over the room, it took me atleast 10 times of sanitizing it to take away the greasy film. Oh, and I found a stick of butter in one of the other rooms the other day. I understand there is controversy over lotion sales. I personally will keep my opinion about it to myself. But if anyone is reading this and sneaks these lotions in the rooms of your salon. Beware, it doesn't take long for salon prices to increase when the acryllics all go bad.

Hi Guys! As some of you already know, I am a newbie tanner, who just started tanning in march. I love my salon because they change the bulbs fairly often as well as sanitize the bed everytime someone has used them etc.. However, they do not appear to be a big lotion pusher AT ALL! They actually told me not to use lotion right off the bat...Then, when I finally wanted to use some(once you guys helped me realize I should have been all along), they told me to use one of their cheaper products, which I definitely am enjoying for my base tan development (Austrailian Gold Accelerator.) However, the lady warned me that I will need something else once I have a good base tan, but she gave me no suggestions as to what I should progress to.. So I am still at a loss for what to purchase next. I actually would rather purchase from them because it is more convient etc, but they aren't very helpful about it..Its a fairly large salon with 25 beds and they are always extremely busy and most of the time I have to wait for a bed unless I go about a half hour before closing.. I feel they have a very small selecton of lotions and actually they have no moisturizers to purchase whatsoever.. Therefore, I was forced to order a moisturizer (Glimra) online because they wouldn't special order me some.. I honestly didn't want to becuase of S&H fees as well as the wait to receieve it etc.. I have notice other people bringing their own moisturizers and lotions that they purchased elsewhere in and they don't seem to care one bit! I hope I don't get flamed from this.. I am very new to tanning and have been confused through the experience so far.. By the way, I am now going twice a week for 12 minutes each..
Anyone has comments about this, feel free.. -Andrea[ This Message was edited by: Andrea on 2002-04-21 12:34 ] |

Some salons owners have got into a pattern and find it hard to change, go to a different salon to buy your lotions, check out the machines they have as well, you might find a new place to tan and buy your lotion ,just because a salon seems big or busy dosen't have to stop you from finding a better smaller place to tan, that has great machines and great lotions, and a more personal touch, you may not even have to wait as long. get out of the cattle herd and find your own place.

Yep, what Chip said. Bigger isn't necessarily better. Look around for one with a more personal touch that will spend more time with you. Perhaps they tell you to only come in twice a week to keep traffic down (and you'll have to renew sooner?). At the rate you are going, it will take a while to build a tan.

Thank you very much for the website, but I wasn't able to find a tanning salon within a 50 miles radius of where I am.. I am originally from New York, but I live in North Carolina because I go to school at East Carolina University and its a fairly big city with atleast 15 salons, so I couldn't believe not a single one showed up on the search! Any suggestions??

Another way to find a salon is to go to http://maps.yahoo.com and put in your zip code or city. Then along the right side about half way down you'll see a link for Nearby Businesses. Once you click on that you can navigate to Personal Care... then to Tanning Salons... You should see a list of places to check out. The best way is NOT to call but to check them out in person.
Here is an example of the results that I got from a search of my childhood hometown. Click for My Search Results _______________ Bronze@bronze-star.com "Virginia may be for lovers But Pennsylvania has Intercourse" - seen on t-shirt[ This Message was edited by: Bronze Star on 2002-04-23 15:02 ] |
