I took everyones advice and did not hire an assistant manager. I hired a girl to work my hours and I am going to give everyone a little raise and give them all a few more responsiblities. So after I get her trained next week I am going to have so much time to work on managing and improving all three salons I will probably scare myself. Hopefully I will find some new ideas here and will think up some of my own to share.
It really bothers me that I will not have the interaction with "my" clients that I have waited on everyday and know all of their little quirks. But I know it is best for business that I lock myself in my office half of the day and spend the other half training everyone and running errands. My family might even remember who I am if I free myself up a little bit more. Someone please help me convince myself that I can't do it all for 3 salons at the same time plus work 40 hours behind the counter because I am feeling guilty about abandoning my hours behind the counter. |

Rio..
You should be feeling guilty about abandoning yourself. You and yours are important too!! You are doing the right thing. Keep strong and after a while you will be glad you made this chioce. The salon needs you but do you need the salon???? this is a question I have to ask myself when I get toooooo involved with the business. Moderation is best in every avenue of life.. Mj |

Thanks MJ.....
I know it is the right thing to do and I will probably put in alot of hours still, but now I have alot more flexability, if I want to sleep an extra hour one morning I can. I also got safes for each location so now I don't have to be there at 10pm counting money and making a night drop every night. It is alot of changes right now in the middle of season, and I am stressing over getting it all implemented but give me a week I am sure I will be alot happier. I am glad I have you guys to turn to for support,,,,,,every time I get frazzled I just turn on my computer and say to myself...look at all these issues everyone has going on!!! I love tantalk, it is sssoooo relaxing. |

With change comes growth, and vice versa. You will do fine: just think, now you can post on Tantalk more . Subconsciously, isn't that what you're aiming for? Huh, now come on you know it's true...log on log on log on...
