Rep Power: 8 tangirl will become famous soon enough
I had a customer come in first thing yesterday morning. She was renewing her membership and we started idly chit chatting.

She proceeded to tell me that a friend of her told her that her doctor said that her kidney stones were caused by tanning indoors.

What? I thought that I had heard just about everything. This is a new one on me. Where would someone even come up with this kind of thing?

The only thing that I have found could possibly link tanning and kidney stones is this excerpt from WEB MD.

"Chronic use of antacids containing calcium has also been linked to kidney stones. Dietary deficiencies, especially of vitamin B-6 and magnesium, and excessive amounts of vitamin D also may be factors in the formation of stones. An imbalance of these vitamins and minerals can increase the amount of calcium oxalate in the urine; when the levels become too high, the calcium oxalate does not dissolve, and crystals may begin to form."

But, then again, I would not think that tanning would cause excessive amount of Vitamin D in the person's system unless they were taking it in a pill format on top of tanning.

tangirl your are right..."But, then again, I would not think that tanning would cause excessive amount of Vitamin D in the person's system "

The body and uv on the skin makes vitamin d that can be stored and a form that can be immedeatly used based on what the body needs.
The body does not make more Vitamin D then what it needs.
The only way to sysnthesis D is sun exposure!
With out sun its dosent matter if you have a good diet or take Vitamin d pills, you will still lack D.

Talk to a DR. from the tropics they will tell you children in canada and northern usa are on the verge of rickets, a bone deformation from Vitamin d deficiency.

what do Dr know about uv light and the biopositive effect on humans? 0!
the only info they read is ads from the sunscreen companies pushing sunscreens!
And some junk science from time to time in the spring time anti tanning new crap.

Like I said, avoid the sun ,paint your windows black , and never go out side. No one will ever beleive thats good.
