We do everything by cards too, Bronze, filed by last name. But the appointments are scheduled by first name and last initial (sometimes full name - you may have 5 Tina C's.) This seems to help us. Also, every now and then we pull the files and have them sitting out on the counter in the order that they are sheduled to come. So when someone comes in we know that they are probably one of the few names on top of the stack. This helps me anyways.
