My personal favorites are the people who are thinking about opening a salon, so they come in or call and want to know where we order supplies and equipment!!!! Atleast one every couple of years will do this. I don't know where these people come from, or who they are, but come on!!! Are they really that stupid to think I would give them info to open up another salon in the same town? Crazy.

THE CUSTOMERS TAHT SAY "I WANT YOUR JOB...YOU DO NOTHING" JUST BECAUSE THEY WALK IN AT THE ONE MOMENT THAT I'M NOT CLEANING, DOING SCHEDULES, REPAIRING BEDS, ETC...

Agreed. Makes you want to climb over the counter and slap em'! I want to tell them, I wish I had YOUR life. Just be able to walk in, tan, and leave a mess for YOU to clean!

Ive heard them all but what kills me the most is that we are the lowest priced salon (for new beds that is) we have a lady down the road who will only charge $2 but thats becuase her beds are 20 years old and they are all cracked and dirty. I cant believe people even tan there. The teenagers arent loyal at all they just want to pay barely anything to tan. My biggest problem is those who want something for nothing. We always have FANTASTIC deals and yet that not good enough the want it for less. And we have a normal markup on lotion but they want us not to make any money at all so they ask is there any discount on this, and ofcourse clients that buy lotion on the internet or somewhere else yet tan here. YOu knwo I dont go into the grocery store or department store and expect that I'll get something for less then what it says, why do they?

Keep delivering friendly, knowledgeable service, COMPETITIVE pricing, clean beds (with lamps that work) and offer LOYAL clients a reason to stay with you and I can assure you that in the long run, you'll come out on top.

As far as going to grocery stores and department stores and expecting things to be discounted, I have to disagree with you. EVERY shopper knows that, from time to time, certain items will go "on sale" or will be marked down. It's that way in nearly EVERY business, so why should it be any different in the tanning industry?

Some people will NEVER pay full price for something and there's nothing you can do about it. Others (like myself) merely want fair and reasonable pricing so I get a decent deal and you're able to make a living at the same time. No one's asking you to GIVE the stuff away....

Ask yourself WHY tanners are making their lotion purchases elsewhere. Do some research and see what your competitors are charging and price accordingly.

NEVER tell someone that they can't tan at your salon because they haven't purchased lotion from YOU. Find out where they bought it, how much they paid for it and see if you can match (or at least come close). A LOT of people are willing to buy locally (and receive instant gratification) if you can find some middle ground between what they paid and what you'd charge (full retail)
