i just wanted to let you all know for your safety that my friends mom owns a salon here in new york and around september there was a fire in her salon. this is during the day while people were in the beds. later they found out that the fire was caused by the little rubber around near the outlet was wearing away where the wires became exposed the lady in the bed got out fast and was not hurt but the rest of the salon and the little beach store next door were burnt down and everything in them- so i just wanted to let you all know that yoiu should check all the plugs before each tannign session maybe while your cleaning the bed.

TAN SAFE!

I'm not sure which wires he is talking about. Were these wires from the timer or the bed? Why would a salon owner allow them to become exposed?

they were wires from the bed it self. the wires are in the back of the bed im sure you dont check your wires everyday. they didnt just let the wires become exposed it was a fairly new bed.

A "fairly new" bed should have just as new wires and since there is, or should be, no access or movement causing friction on the cover of the wiring, then I suggest your friend's mother investigate further. Something sounds really wrong in this scenario.

Thanks for the advice.

Not really related but I must share a "potential fire" story. One of our salons is next to a beauty shop. One Saturday evening after the beauty salon closed apparantly a fire began in a garbage can that a ashtray was emptied into. The garbage can got so hot, the heat exploded the fire extinguisher sitting next to it and the fire extinguisher put the fire out. No joke! Talk about your "freak" accidents.
