I'm sure you've all had them- the customers who take 10 minutes to take their clothes off, 10 to put on their lotion, and another 15 to get dressed after their tan. In SunCapsules that are supposed to take 15 minutes per client, hw do you handle this without seeming rude to the client?

Yes I have a few people like that myself. During the slow season it is fine, but when I am busy it drives me bonkers. Some say to eliminate mirrors in your rooms, and post signs that say other people are waiting please dress quickly and apply make-up and such in the restroom. But no one ever reads the signs it seems. I have had the opportunity to say to a couple of them, okay lets get in and out quickly today I have a swamped schedule without offending but it has been with my teenagers not adults. It seems some people think only thier time is of any value. But I am a wuss and I usually don't say anything to my slowpokes, other than have a nice day!

When you set the timer have it set so that the bed comes on in X amount of minutes. That will get them use to getting in the bed faster because the bed is going. As for the dressing faster....when you figure this one out let me know. I have eliminated the chairs from my tanning rooms and this has helped a bit.[ This Message was edited by: HOT on 2002-01-28 15:08 ]

I give them alll the comforts, mirrors, chairs etc. They are informed in the beginning our policies and how our salon works. this includes time in the rooms. most everyone gets it. The ones that don't are informed they will be charged double because they take up two appointments. this smartens things up. Some are glad to pay double for the time in the rooms. which works for me.

What do they do in there? My beds are on 5 minute delay. Most people are ready and push button to start long before 5 minutes but some of them......they even ask us to wait to set it until they are in the room. I could paint the side of a barn in the amount of time it takes them to 'lotion up'. What gives? Only a few are slow getting out. We have mirrors, chairs, etc in rooms, too.

This drives me crazy too. We have stand-ups as well and we do not take appointments so I need to get people in and out as quickly as possible while ebing as nice as possible! We do not have mirrors in our booths and in the busy season we do post notices (very polite ones) that tell clients we would like them to be as quick as possible and to put on make-up etc outside of the booth. Most people do respect this while others simply just don't care. The big question still remains: What the heck are they doing in there???? Can anyone help us out...

Some people are just inconsiderate. There's no changing that. I have my timers set on 4 minutes. Do any of you lower the # of minutes in the busy season? I was thinking about changing it to 3 minutes to speed them up a little!

I must be lucky, I only have about 3 clients, that I can think of that are soooooslooooooowwwwwww. Right now I don't have the delayed time set on my system. I am changing so much this season, that I thought I would wait until next season to do this. But I would think a 3 min. delay would be plenty of time. Shoot, I could lotion up 3 times in 3 mins.

We have a three minute delay on our beds. Just a few customers that complain until we explain the reasoning. We have a few customers that can lotion themselves, the mirror, the chair, the stereo, the bed, and the floor in just three minutes. Getting them out of the rooms hasn't been a problem yet.

When I opened a few months ago I set the delay to three minutes. It seemed that one out of every five asked to wait to start the bed or else said that wasn't enough time when they came out. I finally changed it to four minutes and some people still say that isn't enough time. If you wait to start the bed, you can't register the next person. I'm with you, how much time do they need??
I don't have the hold up after yet cause we have a beauty bar for freshening up in. Kathy |
