Every little bit helps. Lucky you. I have a friend in FM radio and he basically told me to shove off if I wanted free advertising. |

I've not had much luck with newpaper ads. I did a TV commercial at the first of the year (I had opened in June 2000) so this worked very good just to let people know we existed. I think I'm going to concentrate on word of mouth & reward my clients for bringing in new customers!

We do that too. We are running a bonus point system right now. For every new client that a customer refers the customer gets 20 bonus points. Also for every dollar they spend they earn a bonus point. We have a list of items they can redeem their bonus points for. They all seem to like it.

One of my best responses I get to advertising is from our local/only grocery store. The owner tans here and offered to let me bring monthy promo's/"bag stuffers" to her store and the baggers put one in every bag. I use a postcard size format (4 to a sheet) and make copies on florescent paper,..."publisher" and "print shop" both have great graphics. Also, our local highschool sells ads for the yearbook. I have noticed that most of my younger tanners are from the girls basketball team and not the cheerleaders and dance team membersas I anticipated.

I just signed up for something new this year. The bowling alley in our city has a score card/league registration pamphlet that you can advertise on. I was approached about it this week and I tell you what for the price I don't know how it can't pay for itself. I got a business card size ad for 1 year for $200.00. Now that will reach a potential of 35,000 or more bowlers in my area. Everyone who signs up for a league will see my ad and anyone who needs directions on how to operate the electronic score screen or wants someplace to handwrite scores will also have my ad. So I'd contact your local bowling alley and see if they offer this.

Cutiepup, I did this a few years ago and it didn't do anything for my business. I hope you have better luck. I have decided the newspaper has been my best. This year I am going to try some radio and have a live remote party about March with lots of free goodies.
