Re: Weird Employee Rules
when you are the owner, and its your butt on the line with the investors, mortgage company, banks, and lenders, there are no weird or quirky rules.
(except any rule that doesn't directly apply to an employee successfully completing their job) tough crap if you don't like it. |

Re: Weird Employee Rules
An owner of a top notch salon must be picky about the look and cleanliness of his/her salon. Good employees may try to be perfect but seldom will they match the owner's drive for perfection. Your reputation depends on it. My towels are as neat and precise as anyone's out there and I challenge my employees to keep the rooms as clean as I would. I am male and the stereotype of sloppiness doesn't apply here. Perhaps the military had an influence on me afterall.

Re: Weird Employee Rules
Hi there! Yes-that's good advice! I have a wholesale ACRYLICS business and owned 3 tanning salons for 15 years. Now that I'm in the acrylics biz I see that's a problem if the acrylics don't cool down and stuff is placed on it while hot!
I'll be posting to this entire site that salon owners should call me for free quotes on their acrylics. 877-ACRYLIX is the phone #. 877-227-9549. Keep up the good work! debbieuriworld@earthlink.net |

Re: Weird Employee Rules
I am beginning to think that neat freaks are salon owners... I am the same way, the towels have to be folded "my way" which is the best way, and I dont settle for anything less.. I just had a talk w/ my manager tonight, She cries when I have to be firm with her, I cant seem to get it through her head, that I pay her to do what I dont have to do... I need to be doing other things on my days there, instead of the things that I pay her to do. She lied to me tonight, I know she didn't want to get in trouble, but that just really sucked.... I know people arent' going to do things as well as I do, because, I am a perfectionist when it comes to that Salon, my house is a wreck, but my salon isn't.. of course, I'm never here, and always there,,,,, I've gotta get my housekeeper back soon.... atleast bi-weekly, every little bit helps.

Re: Weird Employee Rules
I have to agree with some of you that yes you are a bit too much on the towels.
As long as they are uniform and look good having them ALL folded to perfection seems a bit too much to me. As long as it looks good for the customers and they are not stained or coming apart its all good. Our company has a full written manual for employees and its all spelled out for them. We don't allow smoking either which makes it tuff for those poor smokers who are discriminated against in this day and age. Having it spelled out for employees helps down the road for sure. Re: Weird Employee Rules
Heck, I think some of our employees think all our rules are weird. Seems like we always have one or two that wants to question why we do things they way we do. DON'T ASK, JUST DO. If an employee has a legitimate suggestion to improve something, great, but otherwise, just follow the rules!

Re: Weird Employee Rules
I had to go over the towel folding thing also . The rolls have to be tight with no edges sticking out looking sloppy. The Dmx has to be tuned to the same station after the bed is cleaned- it makes me crazy hearing country, pop, rock and 80s all at the same time. The lucasol bottle has to be left closest to the door for efficiency, the toilet paper over the top, so people aren't contaminating my walls searching for the end of the roll.
I had an employee suggest moving the microwave and fridge to the front break area which seems like a good idea, but if they don't close the fridge I've got a mess on my floor and I don't wan't my salon to smell like someone's lunch. |
