My salon staff seems to promote our lotions and other items more when I set a sales goal. For this time of the year I have a weekly sales goal set for each person. $300.00 candles $300.00 lotions $300.00 jewelry. If they meet all 3 goals they get 10% of sales. Each time they meet a goal they get to put their name into the jar for the end of the year drawing. The name I pull from the jar at the end of the year gets a weekend trip for two to the beach. This includes accomodations and meals. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't love the idea of something free and a little competition never hurt anyone.

What a great incentive to sell! I wish I could keep an employee longer than a few months, let alone a year! I did give one employee a little incentive on her sales and she ended up selling tingle lotion to a 59 year old gentleman - he was not the happy camper the next day - but she was so happy to be making sales! Guess she got a little too enthused about the whole deal.

Yes snowtan, I have a girl that was pushing Exotica 100X because it was a higher priced lotion, she pushed it to a girl that wasn't ready for anything near that strong. She knew better but the $ sign got into her eyes...

I have step one products in the same price range as some of my step 2 products. The key is to educate your employees on their lotions. If I had an employee who purposely gave a tanner a tingle lotion and knew they were not ready for it, not only would they not win their sales goal, they would not be working for me.

I like this idea. This way they get a percentage bonus instead of commission. I would think that it would push them to sell more. I'm going to have to steal (ooops, I meant borrow) that idea.
