Rep Power: 0 Brandi Jordan is on a distinguished road
I have a 2,000 sq ft bldg with 8 laydown beds, 1 booth, 1 upgrade bed. My electric bill during busy season is 1,200.00 a month and during slow season it is still around 700.00. Is this typical or is their some way to lower my bills before busy season. During busy season I see aprox. 250 a day and now it is only 40 people. I am willing to try just about anything.
Thanks in Advance for your help!
Brandi

Try raising your prices. High electric bills are the nature of the biz.

LOL Jim, you are a nutt....
That does seem high to me. I also have approx. 2000 feet and 13 beds total. My bill is about 1/2 of yours.

Brandi, do a little research. I had someone look at my ac. We found out that the fan was running all night. Fixed the problem, the light bill went down. Found out the previous owner was not changing the air filters once a month. Starting doing that, light bill went down. We changed how many loads of laundry we do per day, light bill went down. My electrician is coming out tonight to look at something for me. And, believe me I will pick his brain for more ideas to lower my bill.

Brandi, I have 1600 sq.ft. with 7 beds including standup and 4 nail techs and my bill is about 1/2 to 1/3 that. What is your rate? That seems really high. How much air are you running? Good Luck.

Brandi,
How old is your AC unit? When I first opened, I told my landlord I needed to know about the air. He told me I had a 5 ton unit and it was new. That was in November. I couldn't look at it myself because our units are on the roof of our plaza. When summer came, my electric bills went through the roof! Then my AC died! It was August, and I'm in Florida!!!!!

When a repairman went up on my roof, turns out that my "new" 5 ton unit, was about 20 years old, and looked like it had a heartattack! I had the unit replaced, and my bills are now half of what they were.

Your bills do seem awfully high! Good Luck!

We had an increase in electricity in March so we decided to raise the price on the base beds by $ 1.00 and our month unlimited by $ 5.00,we posted a sign saying effective March 1st due to increased Electricity costs we will be increasing by etc....The clients were very understanding,we didnt raise the prices on our up-graded equipment, and we hadnt raised the prices since the salon opened so it worked out well.Hope this helps.Good Luck

I installed the air when I opened shop in my new location 2 years ago. I put in a 5 ton unit and then as I grew I added another 5 tons this past summer. I am not even running my air very much right now and my electic is out the roof. My sewer was $100.00 and my water was $85.00 and my electric was $575.00 for this past month, which was really slow.

Brandi, Maybe you should have an electrician check to see if somehow someone elses power is drawing off yours. I have heard of cases where people have had that happen (sometimes by accident, sometimes intentional.) I knew someone once that caught a neighbor who spliced into their power somehow. We've been tanning about the same amount of people lately as you, and our bills have only been around $300's. I'm in only 1200 sq ft, but I can't imagine my bill getting that high off season. Hopefully they can figure it out for you, but I would definitely get it checked if it were me.
