Here's a way to recognize and reward employees, while creating great customer service at the same time.

Play the Name Game

Whenever your employees thank a customer by name, have the customer drop a coupon with the employee's name into a big box. Give the employee's who have thanked the most customers by name a cash reward.

being personal with clients is the key to keep them coming back. during the busy times i can call just about every one that walks in the door by their name. they are amazed and pleased that i remember. now the funny thing is that i have a problem when it'z slow. go figure.

That happens to me too. Slow season makes me forgetful, can't remember anyone and then when we are seeing a 100 or more a day, I could probably get every name...very strange.
Glad to know it's not only me though.

What's really strange is that I've always been terrible at remembering names. Since I opened the salon, I can call peoples names like I've known them all my life!

I moved into a new area and purchased my salon. I only new about 10 people total in this town.

Before, the customers didn't have to sign in when they came into the salon. I placed a sign in sheet on the desk and they wrote down their names. After a couple of times (this was during May), I was calling them by name.

My boyfriend who has lived in this town 25 years still can't remember some of their names when they come in. He was amazed at how quickly I learned everyone.

I know each one of my customers by name, types of lotion the like, car they drive. After the second time in I can tell you who anyone of them are.

My mother can't even keep it straight, she is in total shock over the whole concept. She can only remember the big spenders. That's why I work all of the time, with few breaks.
