Okay, the recent rash of illness between myself and Forever Tan has left me thinking of what the heck I would have done if I'd have been open.When you're sick or an emergency comes up or you want to attend a trade show... who watches the shop? How do you handle the unexpected as well as the planned?------------------Laurie

I turn it over to my step-daughter and pray... no just kidding....Normally she takes care of it if i am ill or away and vise-versa.With the Nashville show we both will be away and i have a great employee that has been with us 3 years and she will do fine. Of course we must have our cell phones for all her calls...rflol

While I am away or sick I have one employee who is like a manager, she handles things very well when I am not there, for illness, vacations, tradeshows and so on.I also have 3 other extremely competant employees who do their normal shifts.Laurie, when you first open this is hard because most of the stuff you do yourself, but once you are established, you have no problem with it.

Sometimes it is difficult.I have a manager that has been with me for over 3 years (since she was 17) and knows the place inside and out. She knows exactaly how I want everything done, who to call, what to order, etc. She is the best. Clients love her, my 4 year old son say she is his girlfriend (yes, she even babysits), she is great! I am lucky to have her. I got her a cell phone so the rest of my staff can direct their questions and such to her instead of calling me 100 times a night for stuff like..."Where are the staples?" or "Where did the extra toilet paper go?"
