I read in a marketing magazine a few days ago to increase contacts that a sales rep. of a company in Dallas Texas attends Dallas Cowboy's football games and when the team scores and everyone jumps up to celebrate she joins them by throwing out a hand full of business cards like confetti. They of course land everywhere and people pick them up and yes, she has received contacts from this.Business cards can be a very useful tool in marketing. Hotels, restuarants, beauty & nail salons, gyms, almost any type of "service" oriented business usually have business card racks. We do in a couple of our salons. Take advantage of this opportunity because if your like me, the business card is only gathering dust on your desk anyway and once again, it's free!------------------Tracie WilliamsSandollar Corporation

Tracie,I'm going to a big Auburn/Alabama party tomorrow. Probably, 100-150 people. I've made some cards for 3 free visits to give out to anyone that hasn't visited my salon. I haven't been thru a busy season yet, so I'm still trying to build up my clientale. Also, Pizza Hut came by my salon yesterday. They are trying to expand their delivery area around where my salon is. They wanted to make up some flyers with my coupon on it giving 3 free visits for first time tanners in exchange for leaving some flyers in my salon to let people know they were now delivering pizza in the area. The flyer to include my coupon will be on top of each pizza box delivered.

Tacky, tacky...Why not just leave them in restrooms, and throw them on the sidewalks. This is "silly marketing" young lady.

If it works and brings in business "NOTHING" is silly!!You should make every effort to increase your traffic within your resorts. If it means leaving business cards in the restrooms of public places then so be it! That is certainly an area that "everyone" utilizes. What is tacky is condemning others for their hard work and ambition!By the way, your horns are showing Bruce!------------------Tracie WilliamsSandollar Corporation[This message has been edited by Tracie Williams (edited November 17, 2000).]

Tacky? NOT EVEN CLOSE!When you get your coupon or salon info delivered to their door, how can you go wrong. All kinds of people from all walks of life order pizza. We had 3 area pizza places adding our flyer to their pizza boxes for a week to advertise our fundraiser. It brought in over 150 people during the weekend and did not cost us anything but the ink and paper.(Tacky would be having pornographic pictures linked to a tanning salon website. In my personal humble opinion.)Mike------------------Take A Trip To The Coast...Palm Coast Tann mike@palmcoasttann.com

I know for a fact that getting business cards out brings customers in. We have cards that offer a free visit on them. I have been in malls, restaurants, convenience stores, etc., and people ask me about where I work. I hand them a card and they come in. Everyone loves something free. I know of quite a few of our customers that joined by me handing them a card and getting them in the door. It Works! I'll keep doing what I've been doing.

It is a great marketing tool! We put business cards at the gym around the corner, attach them to every donation we make to EVERYTHING, place them in with gift certificates, etc. Also, I have made cards for all of my employees. They have THEIR name on them, their title and other obvious salon info, as well as a $5 off a package banner on it or 50% off a single in one of our VHR units. They not only feel important having their OWN cards, but they hand them out to people they attend class with, go to the gym with, meet in the mall, meet in bars, etc. We have generated alot of new clients this way. If this is tacky...well, just spank me and call me a 'bad girl' then! Speaking of tacky BS, look at the things that come out when you open your mouth! Play nice

I have started to see them in Fridays and some of the local clubs around here. His audiences are the same people tanning in your salons.Oh, and solid... be careful.
