Beginning in November Sandollar implements a program for local charities to collect non-perishable food items, coats, and toys. We work with our local "Toys for Tots" program,"Warm coats for warm hearts", and "Christmas Charities". For each customer who brings in one of these items we offer them a free upgrade! This will be our second year to participate and believe me the joy of giving to others and our customers commitment to these programs are outstanding!! I would like to challenge all salon owners to contact your local charities and see how you can get involved and make someone's christmas alot brighter!!!!------------------Tracie WilliamsSandollar Corporation

We are also really involved in our community. We take donations from our clients to hang ornaments on our tree, with the money going towards Make-A-Wish. We also have a HUGE fundraiser coming up in just two weeks. Here is a link to visit the site we put up for it.Hot Tub 2000We also support many other charities througout the year with their auctions and fundraisers.Mike ------------------Take A Trip To The Coast...Palm Coast Tann mike@palmcoasttann.com

Tracie:You are all to be commended for this effort. We are currently selling "Entertainment Books" with the proceed going to a home for battered women and children and we will soon start our annual toys, food and clothing drive.Wouldn't it be wonderful if each and every tanning salon owner would find a way to "give back" to their community? In his landmark book "Man's Search For Meaning" Victor Frankel wrote that we must find a cause that allows us to help others if we are to find meaning in our lives. Helping others helps us as much as it helps those that we help! You are fortunate to be associated with one of my role models in the industry.Don

Thank you Don, so very much! It really does feel better to give to others. It helps the spirit! My next project is to implement a program to help the elderly. We have alot of programs assisting children as well as we should and can certainly use them all. However, I was in my doctor's office 2 weeks ago and an elderly couple came in and sat down waiting to be called. The wife asked her husband "If he was tired since he had been up since 5am working". I figured farm work but when we began talking I came to realize the gentleman was 82 years old, a veteran of vietnam, and he had been up working at 5am washing dishes part time in a local family (not his) restuarant. It really is ashame how our elder americans are treated or mistreated at times. We have a program named "CASA" that takes donations and distributes needy items to our elderly. If we can help or promote our own program then I feel we can make a difference.Oh, by the way, Mr. Chunn is a favorite of mine also. Proud to be one of his associates!------------------Tracie WilliamsSandollar Corporation

I think it would be a good idea to sponsor a needy family. Last year at this same time my husband fell off of a house at work and broke both of his arms and crushed his elbow. Needless to say he was unable to work for months. I was the only one working, with 2 kids and one on the way. There is not alot of help out there for family's in this situation.Thank goodness for the COO of our business. She called around and found me help for Christmas gifts for my kids. Wal-Mart was glad to help.I guess I was one of those people who thought (it will never happen to me) now I know how easily it can happen. So anyway, I think it would be great to find a family to sponsor and make sure they have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas. After all kids don't understand our problems and expect presents for Christmas.

Starting in mid-November we are doing a food drive for The Anti-Cruelty Society. Most people forget about the animals during the holidays. I love doing this because this is where my heart is...I adore animals and have helped hundreds over the years personally. This is a way that I can help on a much bigger level, in addition to bringing it to the publics attention. Give it some thought...I am sure there is an animal shelter in your area that would welcome you with open arms. We are giving a free tan for every 6 cans of pet food. For an increased number of cans donated, you can get a freebie in one of the vhr units. Wish me luck. If anyone has any tips for a more effective press release, let me know. Sometimes mine are a little lack luster.

Bober, I think you do just fine! The animal shelter sponsorship is also a wonderful cause. I have 4 dogs (2 inside & 2 outside) and I they are wonderful companions and would hate to see any of them suffer or starve. You could offer for each month purchased a percentage of the cost donated to the shelter or for every upgrade purchased a $1.00/$2.00 of your upgrades go towards your charity. These ideas could work for any charity your salon supports!Good Luck!------------------Tracie WilliamsSandollar Corporation

Bober,You probably already know this but for those that may not local newspapers, radio stations, & tv stations will not charge for public annoucements such as sponsoring a charity especially if they are sponsors themselves! They will annouce your establishment as a local drop off point or sponsor.------------------Tracie WilliamsSandollar Corporation
