Wal-mart has the buying power. Tanning lotions ?? I would bet my money that Wal-mart will receive tremendous discounts probably from the lotion mfg directly. They will be able to retail lotions at an amazingly low price that it will kill lotion sales for other tanning salons in your area. Your salon customers will now be able to buy premium tanning lotions at Wal-mart. Wake Up !! Wal-mart has been selling A. Gold for quite some tim - maybe only in certain states, but now they will be able to sell any & all major lines??Where will your customers buy their lotion from now ?? You or Wal-mart ??

Just thinking about the lotion issue in the Wal-Marts. We all know that a salon needs lotion sales. But if Wal-Mart is actually selling lotions, what about Celsius? They will not have the lotion sales, Wal-Mart will. What happens to their bottom line?AM I missing something here?

Daisy, you need to go back and re read the posts here to get up to speed. The salons that are opening in Walmart are not owned by Walmart, they are just leasing space the salon owners.

Ok Rich you want us to believe that celcius is just a leasing the space at wal-mart. I dont think so. There is more to the deal than just that. That is some major backing to open a salon in every Wal-mart across the U.S. How much you think its going to cost per salon 150,000 to 300,000? Probably more. Add it up. At the fictional 150,000 per salon with 300 locations thats 45 MILLION. It'll probably be more like double that number. Think Celcius has that kind of backing. **** ya they do Wal-Mart.[ August 30, 2001: Message edited by: Golden ]

Being offered such a deal by a retail giant like WalMart has to be a franchisers dream! But I think that every salon owner, who has one or two or even three salons in the same city should be scared. Obviously the idea behind putting tanning into their stores is a well thought out move. They want to undercut the little 5 bed salon around the corner and the 20 bed salon 4 blocks away. Per session prices could very well drop and lotion prices will probably be very difficult to match. Even if all the regulations are adhered to and the staff is friendly, bulbs changed every 2 weeks and safety is a prime concern, will it be good for tanning, probably, but then again why will we care when we have to close our salons because we have been squeezed out by WalMart.............

If Celcius is merely leasing space, and they are not given buying power by WalMart that would undercut everyone else, then hey you lucky bast***s go for it! But is that realistic........

At this point in time all we can do is speculate. There is nothing at all any of us can do to stop this from happening.Let's just keep an eye on them and inform others when their business practices are actually in public view.(we have a super wal-mart opening up just 4 miles from our salon loacation. Hope they don't have one planned for that location!)Becky
