I am not a germiphobe, I just like my things. As for what my clients like, they would use them if they were provided, all I am saying is...they prefer to purchase their own...ownership....it's not what we set out to do, it's what they wanted to do. As for the teeth whiteners, yes I have, i used the Twilight Teeth, it worked but I don't like the mouth piece. I feel like I am text messaging! Answers so quick.

We provide free eyewear that is cleaned properly. In ten years we have had no complaints. We will sell you a pair if you want your own. The pink eye thing swings both ways. Since we are throughing around what ifs. What if I have my own pair. I get pink somewhere else and dont know it. I wear the goggles. After I get over the pinkeye I put my googles on again. OOOpps I have pink eye again. Goggles soaked and cleaned in acrylic cleaner/alcohol is not a problem.
We also have the winkease colorblind test setting on the counter. It gets a lot of attention. I am big on eye protection. The first couple of years I tanned I didnt think it was a big deal. I am paying for it now. I cant see as well as i think i should be able to. I think not wearing my googles for 2 or three years contributed to that. I tell customers this all the time. To make someone show you there googles and purchase some from you if they dont have any is one the lamest things i have evey heard. You people keep making things in your salon mandatory to buy and it will bite you in your *** one day. |

Can't say that I set the rules, just have to go with it and stand up for my salon....if it bites anyone it'll bite the owner and he's been at it since 1986 and has been quite successful.
I want to get that colorblind test...did you order it from somewhere? I am offended but I do agree with you on now wearing goggles, my night vision is horrible now. Needless to say, I do have my own pair of sunsets that I purchased....when I was working at a salon that allowed you to "borrow" theirs. Hmmmmmmmmm...........same as working at a clothing store, would you want to borrow clothes all the time or finally own your own incase you move to another...store....or a dealership for that matter. It's all fun when you can use someone elses car but it isn't the same as having your own. |

Hmmm..that's a good point. I think I should. THANKS! But, my aunt is a hairdresser and she does my hair, she also has the UV germ killer container that her combs and what not go into. Otherwise, I rarely go to anywhere else.

That's my point exactly. Everytime you step out the door it's a risk, that's if you can get outta bed with out twisting your ankle, or if you get up at all cause you could die in your sleep, that's if you don't slip and fall on the stairs on the way to bed, if you don't choke on your popcorn while watching the Late News before bed and so on.

The gym requires I wear proper shoes but don't provide them The gym provides showers which we hope are clean but I never see them sanitizing the floor so I wear flip-flops for my own protection. They don't provide towels so I have to take my own. They don't even have a towel I can buy if I forget mine. Do I freak out on them? No. I deal with it. Yes, I have been to gyms that do have towel service which was great but I paid more for it. I can shop at a grocery store where I pay for bags and pack my own or I can phone the gourmet store to deliver. So, what it comes down to is this: do you provide top quality service with all the perks (some places even provide lotion!) at a higher price, or do you charge less and provide basic service. Guess it depends on what people want in your neighborhood. I'd say there's no right or wrong way - just different ways of doing busines. I don't expect fine china and a great wine list at McDonald's but I do expect my food to be properly cooked and safe to eat. When I go to a fine restaurant, I know I'm going to pay more because it costs more to provide better food in a better environment. It's up to me which I choose to eat in. People can get snotty about providing better service and better equipment but the fact remains that there are people with lower expectations who would prefer to pay less.
